Anybody hear Ashcroft today?? Drug Paraphenalia

I guess the justice dept is going after anyone selling drug paraphanlia. They apparently went to Tommy Chongs (From Cheech and Chong) and were checking out his "Tabacco" pipe selling internet site. I guess he sells glass bongs and things. Though it was interesting. Wonder if they will go after sites like Get-inz.com. What do you guys think?

That's a tough one...considering there are A LOT of uses for needles and not many for glass pipes... what about animals needing injections? No scripts for those usually...

I don't know. The law draws a really fine line when it comes to drug paraphenilia (however you spell it). It all comes down to how anal they want to be.

i agree with slyp here...there are many different legal uses for syringes whereas a glass bong has only one purpose. targeting companies that manufacture items like bongs and pipes seems ludicrous though since the company has no responsibility for what the user does with product. 99.99% of people who buy them use them for illegal purposes, however the government probably wants to prevent these types of devices from being accessible to the public. people will continue to smoke pot even if all glass is taken off the market, so i don't see the practical purpose of wasting taxpayers dollars to make a very insignificant impact on the industry.

What a waste of time and resources... those cops could be catching thieves, killers and rapists instead...

Here in Australia you can go into ANY outpatient clinic for druggies and grab a bag full of needles, swabs etc and no one asks you anything, the Government here wants druggies to be safe whether they shoot or not, i guess its better for them to have clean needles then reuse them and get aids etc... suprising they dont do that in American and Canada.

i was in a head shop not to long ago and used the word BONG..the guy behind the counter got all huffy and said not to use that word in there..they are water pipes and i would have to leave if i said it again...wtf

Razor67: Chances are he was probably stoned makin him really paranoid. Even if he wasn't probably baked he was extremey paranoid. Chances are he was probably ripping you off really bad too. Then again here in the province of british columbia in canada paraphenailia and pot itself are relatively cheap. You can usually get a gram of good shit for 10 bux cdn that'll get you so ripped you'll have a hard time remembering anything. A friend of mine bought cheap glass bong (not the colour changing type) that included a case which you could put the disassembled parts in for $45 cdn. Needless to say in spite of this I'm glad that I cut back tokin to every once in a blue moon....

Perhaps they have begun this because they are 'loosing the war on drugs', could this be a diversion so it looks like they are doing something? Im with red on this one. Just because there are no bongs or pipes doesnt mean anything. If they spent half the money on education as they do on hopeless causes like their precious war on drugs, we'd be lots happier.

All that aside, I'm over 21, able to make responsible decisions, willing and able to accept the outcome of my decisions, but for the life of me, I can't see voting for Bush again if he's only gonna keep this anti-free choice Attorney General around. Geez, why can't I live my own life the way I see fit? The stuff I do doesn't affect anyone else, so the government should just back off and go catch some real crooks and fill in some damn potholes.
