Injected 5.5cc's, had a huge coughing fit.

I did just have a cold and my upper respiratory tract was ill, but I thought I was better. I'm just wondering if it's coincidence that after injecting 3cc's of Test E in one thigh, and 2cc's of Deca in the other, I started coughing like a son of a bitch. I've heard about Tren coughs right after injection, but I didn't inject any Tren...? Oh well, it's gotten better about half an hour later. Just wondering if anyone had this experience after a large amount of oil got injected.

What probably happened is that a small amount of either compound entered the bloodstream, this can happen (even though you aspirate) when the needle passes through a small vein on the way to the muscle (or more likely on the way out, thanks Swifto) this is particularly common on large volume shots due to the amount of solution injected and the additional pressure. What happens is that the oil causes microembolisms to form in the lungs and non productive cough results lasting several minutes.

This is well documented in clinical settings.

You must have nicked a vein on the way out. Any dark blood at all?

Non productive cough, yes that sounds just like what it was. I didn't check to see if the blood was dark, but there was a bit of blood that came out each time. This is common for me it seems to have a bit come out. Every once in a while I get an injection where a ton of blood squirts out. Not sure if this is fluid rejection or if I hit a bad spot.

I try to do everything slowly and carefully. I don't think my technique can be to blame. I always aspirate. On the way out, I leave the needle in halfway, wait for a minute, then pull out, in an attempt to get clotting before the needle exits. Wipe again with an alcohol pad, apply Band-Aid. Maybe I could inject even slower than I do now. Perhaps that would avoid microembolisms...

    SomeRandomGuy,

Back when I was starting a Tren cycle and was worried about Tren cough I read a study on intramuscular injection of I think it was Test, I can not remember the exact numbers that experienced the "suddden onset non productive cought" (that much I remember like I just read it LOL) but it was a fairly significant amount ( although they do not mention it being prevelent in scawny ecotomorphs like you.. JK) I will try to find the study and when I do I will add a link to this post.

    Found it,

    Abstract
We undertook a prospective survey of the tolerability of deep i.m. injections of testosterone enanthate in a castor oil vehicle, the most widely used form of androgen replacement therapy. Over a period of 8 months, 26 men received 551 weekly injections into the gluteal, deltoid or thigh muscle and side-effects were recorded immediately and 1 week after each injection by the same nurse using a standardized questionnaire. Most injections caused no complaints [389/ 551, 70.6% (95% confidence interval 66.6–74.4%)] but minor local side-effects, mostly pain and bleeding, were common [162/551, 29.4% (25.6–33.4%)]; no serious side-effects were observed. Considering all side-effects, the gluteal site had fewer complaints and was less prone to bleeding but was painful more often than deltoid or thigh injection sites. The laterality of injection at any site had no significant effect on side-effects. The only systemic side-effect was episodes of sudden-onset, non-productive cough associated with faintness following eight injections [1.5% (0.6–2.9%)] which we speculate may have been due to pulmonary oil microembolism. We conclude that, when administered by an experienced nurse, deep i.m. injection of testosterone enanthate in a castor oil vehicle is generally safe and well tolerated but causes relatively frequent minor side-effects, including pain and bleeding. An improved depot form of testosterone would be highly desirable for androgen replacement therapy and hormonal male contraception.

I injecter 75mg of Test Prop once and half way thru i was having a coughing fit

I har to get my training partner finnish the shot while i was coughing my lungs up

Funy thing was when i pulled the pin out blood literally poured out of my ass, not a few drop, a full on flow of blood

Can only think i went thru a vein on the way in and that allowed the oil to enter the blood stream quickly

Yeah, I wish I was a scrawny ectomorph. At least then I could bulk and stay ripped . I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I still cough. Shit. It's been a few hours. Non-productive annoying cough, strange tasting . Kinda like that metallic cough they talk about. I've had blood squirt out under pressure when the needle came out as well, even though when I aspirated only air came into the syringe. I wonder how much if any damage it causes to allow the steroid to enter your bloodstream... Probably not real healthy.

I just had an interesting thought, if the problem is the oil entering the bloodstream through a vein that was nicked/penetrated on the way in or out, I wonder how often the veins being punctured are located in the subcutaneous layer when that is the case how much doing a z-trac techniques would effect the process? Of course if you are like me doing a subq injection in the glute never works out to well I have enough trouble without trying to hold the skin and fat to one side.

Oh buy the way I have always been a skinny ectomorph maybe we could swap, ahh well not everyone can be a mesomorph.

This has happened to me once. It was after a quad injection that hurt like hell. I felt flush/queasy and couldn't stop coughing for a few minutes. I wasn't too worried since there's no major arteries where I inject and figure that it's just probably gonna happen every once in a while.

Well I obviously hit a bad spot or something because my right quad is peglegged today. I'm gonna do deads anyway and see if that helps disperse the oil. Maybe save the 3cc's for the glutes and only put 2cc's in the quad. The 2.5cc deca shot in the left leg for comparison (I shot them both at the same time, one right after the other), I can barely even feel, right side? Ow.
