    propecia/finasteride and cycles

    propecia question:

as a preventative hairloss measure while on cycle, how much propecia is reccomended.

It acts by preventing testosterone from converting to DHT

my question... does the old adage "more is better" apply here. with more testosterone in the body via a cycle, does more propecia need to be present to prevent DHT conversion, as opposed to the dose prescribed for non-cycling males?

Never run propecia while on cycle unless you are under doctor's supervision. Its very potent/ harsh drug on liver, let alone the juice. I would definitely use it after pct.
However, If I were you I would use rogaine while on cycle its much safer than pills.

    Good luck.

Holy crap! I'm taking propecia right now as a preventative measure. Not on cycle but will be soon. I didn't know it had an adverse affect on your natural test levels like that. It was explained to me that it just affects how the test converts to DHT. In fact I swear in one of the test profiles it says you can use pro/fin to combat the potential hair loss effects. I don't recall it saying it could affect the effectiveness of your gear. Anyone know how long you have to be on it for it to start affecting your natural test levels?

Seriously you guys should ressearch more...

It is a terrible drug with terrible REAL side effects that doesnt just happen to a small percentage.

No one should use this just for the sake of it...

After all do you want to be on TRT forever because of hair? **** no.. its sutpid.

Well I'm probably gonna get flamed but oh well. First off, no, more is not necessarily better with Propecia. I think somewhere around 2mg/day is where the benefits are no different than 5mg/day, etc. Not sure about that though, I take dutasteride so I do all my research on that.

From first hand experience, I've had no issues at ALL in the 2 years I've been on Dutasteride. On cycle or off, it absolutely stopped my hairloss (for now at least). From going on many hairloss discussion boards, I don't see too many people with side effects either. This is actually the first time I've seen a whole crowd preaching against it.

Do your research and make your own decision. One thing I can tell you for sure is that of the few people experiencing side effects, almost all reported it subsided after 6 months max. I can think of one case where someone reported ED after using Propecia where it was permanent.

    ??????????????????????????????????????
Where did you get that from? Finasteride is not hepatotoxic. It sounds like you're confusing it with Accutane.

It does not have any "harsh" side effects. It's mainly just that it dramatically cuts down your DHT, which sucks on its own (and can cause high estrogen and gyno). Oh, and there's that possibility of permanent damage to the 5a-r enzyme, but that's still just anecdotal.

Agreed. Been a user for a decade. Finasteride use over the long haul is a huge commitment

Why would you need bloodwork for finasteride? It won't have any effect on LH. It just cripples the Type II 5alpha-reductase enzyme. Please tell me you aren't listening to Dinosaur's nonsense...
As long as you aren't getting side effects, don't worry about it. If you are, just throw in a bit of aromasin.

Much more likely to need TRT from AAS use. It may be vain to take compounds to keep hair but so is taking compounds for muscle and strength. I personally have never heard of TRT as a result of finasteride. Maybe there are people out there but not many. TRT as a result of AAS is another story...

You wouldn't need TRT (nor would it solve the problem), since Finasteride does not interfere with your test production, only DHT conversion. The only way injectable test would help would be if it ruined your Type II 5a-r enzymes and you used 5X the physiological dose of test, since this would put your DHT levels in the normal range, once you factor in the 20% DHT conversion from Type I 5a-r that you're left with.
