What is you opinion about using steroids?

Hi guys, just wanted to get you opinion about steroids.
I know that this is "steroid.com" and most of the answers we'll be in favor of using these "artificial sweeteners", so I have some other questions I'd like to ask :P

What is your opinion on steroids? (are they good/bad)
When do you think is the right age of starting using steroids?
    Why should people use 'em?
If you're using, when was the moment you said to yourself that you should start using?
Was your main goal an esthetic purpose or performance enhancement?
How did your close friends or family members reacted when they became aware of your using?
If your using, have you ever encountered any anger issue that was some side effect of taking the steroids?

I will really appreciate your comments.

    Thanks :P

my opinion about steriods, like anything else,
as long as it doesn't affect me and mine, then go for it. It's a personal choice, but there are some guiding principles we try to follow here....

no aas for youngsters (around 25 or so)
aas is the last step in a training program

What is your opinion on steroids? (are they good/bad) Steroids can be very powerful and should be used safely and responsibly, they can be good, but like all other types of "drugs" there can be unwanted side effects.

When do you think is the right age of starting using steroids? The recommended starting age on these boards is 25, by then your body should have fully matured and hormones are not as rampant as they would be at younger ages.

Why should people use 'em? Steroids are used for a huge variety of things, not just getting big and muscular. Aids patients, burn victims, people with severe muscle wasting diseases.

If you're using, when was the moment you said to yourself that you should start using? I did my first cycle at 23, I know I went against the idea of being 25, but that was a personal choice. However, I will admit waiting a few more years wouldn't of hurt

Was your main goal an esthetic purpose or performance enhancement?I took them because i was sick of buying these over hyped big marketed supplements that were advertised by people on steroids. They don't and will not work like steroids. But after my two cycles nothing works better then hard work and proper nutrition, not even steroids. So it was mostly for personal reasons and aesthetic enhancement if you will.

How did your close friends or family members reacted when they became aware of your using?Friends don't know, and don't need to know, none of them train or care about bodybuilding or fitness. Parents actually didn't really care, after careful explaining they understood. They weren't necessarily thrilled about me taking substances illegally, but they weren't mad.

If your using, have you ever encountered any anger issue that was some side effect of taking the steroids?I've ran two cycles of testosterone propionate and never once had an anger issue. Granted there are some stronger androgenic drugs out there. But I really think the term "roid rage" is extremely over exaggerated.

I say they are like anything else. If used in moderation and following guidelines there is no harm. If abused, then of coarse there are consequences. Look at alcohol, recreational drugs etc the same applies with those substances.

Steroids are beneficial when used appropriately. Like any substance they can be abused, but that action is entirely on the user. There are side effects from steroids even when used in a non-abusive manor. Proper research will allow one to uderstand what they are putting into their body and control the side effects.

A lot of people think that steroids are a shortcut and you won't have to work as hard to get results when using them. People think that they are some sort of miracle drug. This is one of many common misconceptions that undereducated people have about them, and one of the reasons why they are perceived so negatively throughout society. Once you've done some research you will soon find that among people in the fitness word, people that use gear are some of the most dedicated, hard working people you will ever find in the gym. Not only that, their whole lifestyle is dedicated to fitness. Steroids are only a catylyst that can help boost one's performance, among many other things. They won't do anything for you if you dont have ALL of the areas of fitness in check and working with each other. Diet, exercise, rest, etc. One should get to their optimum fitness level naturally before ever considering using steroids.

As mentioned in a post above, steroids are benefical to many other people aside from athletes and fitheads and bodybuilders. Treatment of cancer, infertility, and AIDS are just a few "other" uses.

You shouldn't use them until you are at least 25 AND old enough to understand the commitment and research that comes along with the gig. This is because at a younger age, your body is already naturally producing an abundant amount of hormones and more aren't needed. Using steroids at this stage can inhibit your body from naturally producing these hormones in the future. I didn't run my first cycle until I was 29. I was not seeing any more gains in the gym and I was busting my tail. I still don't think that was a good enough excuse. My diet wasn't in check and I felt I still could have gone further naturally.

My goal was not to become a superior athelete or better than someone else, or dominate at a sport. I had goals that I wanted to reach personally and after researching felt that this way would maximize my efforts. I have not told anyone that I use them. It is not with the intention to hide it, but more that it is not anyone's business but my own. Personally I feel that some of my friends and family would not understand becasue of all of the negativity that surrounds the issue, which has mostly been created by the media. My friends don't know anything about steroids, yet they think they know what they are talking about by forming opinions from what they hear on t.v. They haven't done an ounce of research on the subject. Uneducated people and the media can be a pretty destructive force on anything.

Personally I am not a believer in the whole "roid rage" thing. Anybody with any rationale can control their emotions. Steroids are not going to turn you from a normal person into an out of control crazed lunatic that can't control themselves. That is just another misconception. There may be more of a tendancy to put you on edge sometimes, but like I said, it is up to the user and emotions can always be controlled. If you are always an asshole, you are gonna act like an asshole. If you are a normal person you will act like a normal person. My experience isn't vast, but I've never felt any rage or anything that I couldn't control, unless I wanted to, i.e when lifting.

Bottom line is steroids are here and always will be. It's people's experiences that write the story for them. If one takes the time to learn and research and know what they are doing, a positive experience should come out of it. It's always the bad apples that spoil the bunch.

You know whats silly? I can become a transsexual easier than having a Dr. put a steroid cycle for me together and monitoring my health for the next 3-4 months
I mean if I were to follow the legal route for both options haha .. just an example!
