    18g pin to draw?

Quick question. On my last cycle i used the same pin to draw and inject. I used 22g, So after reading so much about dulling needles and since i'll be drawing from 2 vials before injecting i decided to get some 18g pins to draw with and 23g to inject with. I didn't realize how freakin huge 18gauge is. Will such a big draw pin mess up the rubber membrane on the top of a multidose vial?

    Thanks

No. I'm a nurse and we draw up meds out of multidose vials with 18G all the time (because it is faster than using a smaller needle.)

I have found that after multiple uses it will push tiny pieces of rubber into the vial. I have also put the 18g in and left it then I unscrewed the needle from a sterile pin, attached to the 18 in the vial then replaced with the sterile needle. If that makes sense but you are risking contamination this way.

I personally do exactly that and have had no problems.

An 18g will tear up a multidose stopper pretty quick. If its a 10ml you'll probably be OK, but I would never use that for a 20 or 30ml vial.
I always use a 22g to draw and a 25g to inject. Heat up all your oils before drawing and it makes the process a lot smoother.

Even 21g will be fine (20g could still be a liability). I just prefer 22g because I can still bear to pin with it in case I run out of 25g pinning needles.
