    seizure letter

well i didnt think i would get one but i did. i didnt loose out on to much money though.

im suppose to sign it with the option to abandon the item or commence seizure proceedings which i means i challenge it to try and keep item shipped which i obviously will not do.

anyone ever agree to abandon or just decide not to sign and mail at all?

My gut feeling would be to not reply, any reply could potentially be used against you...legally nothing is just that nothing. I would think that customs is required to send a sezure letter and that they are used to no reply, since most people who recieve one hide in the closet for a few hours then rip it up in little pieces and flush it down the toilet LOL.

What kills me about the situation, is now that you have recieved that letter what do you do in the future? Coming from an IT background I have always been curious about this if you get things sent registered mail then it seem like it would be very easy to put a flag on the address since its in an electronic format, however if its just being sent by regular mail then it seems it would be a lot harder to flag, since they would have to physically check all the mail coming into that zip to find out if you were recieving another delivery. Further it seems that using trackable mail the DEA or whoever could simply" look at" ( by look at I mean run a program on a computer to find data patterns) all senders and compare the number of packages sent, the frequency of sending to the same recipient, the number of times a certain senders packages were tracked compared to the norm etc. etc. to identify shipping profiles suggestive of illegal activity. It really amazes me that any distributer in this day and age would send a package that could be tracked knowing how easy it is to identify shipping profiles through any number of means once the data becomes digital.

Just an old IT guys 2 cents.

wow. i wasnt expecting all that. you remind me of this guy in my infantry platoon who has an encyclopedia memory.

what if i order from domestic source, think that will make a difference considering my seized package came from across the ocean?

Also, if ur package is seized, why dont they just show up at ur door and arrest you? i dont get why there isn't even a slap on the wrist
Do you honestly think they are going to arrest everybody that orders a couple bottles of test? They seize lots of packages like this all the time, and they got bigger fish to catch than the average Joe.

So the local PD picks you up and you say no I know nothing of this package, case is dead in the water. This is why they do not proceed for small scale stuff like this, unless you admitted guilt the police would need to get a warrant for evidence to support the charges against you. Then if the found evidence to uphold the charge and proceed to court after they went through all this trouble the courts would probably give you probabtion. Its just not worth it they have bigger fish to fry.

    Hello Crazy Rocks,

I did some searching and unfortunately the USPS no longer just scans the zip-code as it did a few years back when I was employed in the IT field. It now does have in place MLOCR or multi line optical character recognition software in place to fully encode every address, in addition those that are unable to be resolved due to poor handwriting are sorted to a separate RVCS system that use neural net and fuzzy logic to decipher shitty handwriting and if that does not work then it goes to final manual input. All items after scanning receive a full bar code for deliver purposes, ahh technology sometimes its good sometimes its bad LOL.

I would thank you for the motivation to do the research except the outcome sukx soo bad LOL. Well just another reason to use a higher priced European or US source instead of going the direct from China (to save a buck) route since I hear packages from China recieive a lot of scrutiny, really would hate to burn down my address.

The PO box thing is a good idea, even though they (at least in this area) require you to show ID, at least it gives you a new address. As far as the name you can use Joe Blow since it really does not matter as long as it gets put in the box.
