    Anti-aging clinics?

Does anyone know of a good anti-aging clinic in NYS? Not New York City. More like upstate NY. I have just about had it with Doctors. Every time I mention a undesirable side affect of TRT he wants to cut my dose. I am taking 100mg of test two times a week. My test level right now is 902. I feel good but I don't like my balls shrinking and I feel like my estrogen is a little too high. I don't get these guys.

While waiting for a specific response, maybe check out Life Extension Magazine. They have an AA doc list state by state.

No kiddin about doctors, last time I saw mine I asked about something to help with the E2 if it becomes an issue.... He looked at me like I was from the moon.

Welcome to why this forum exist in many ways. My doc is not answering my calls. I suppose his ego go the best of him since I pretty much suggested that he "get with the program." It bugged him that I knew as much as I did.

Agree with Slimmer about looking into Life Extension. Just got a new copy in the mail today, there's lots of good stuff. There's plenty of clinics that network on a national scale. Feel free to PM me if you want a few clinic names that are worth looking at.

It seems like a lot of members also have good luck with the mail order clinics. Not sure how responsive they are to questions or issues though. Never used one myself.

I use an out of state clinic and i'm very pleased with my experience with them so far. I am in New England and found that trying to locate a good endocrinologist was virtually impossible. Trying to locate a good clinic in my area was very difficult to say the least nevermind an "open-minded" clinic. I was hesitant to go the "out of state" route but it wasn't anywhere near as difficult as I had assumed. You simply contact them for an inital consultation to go over your medical history/symptoms. They send you for bloodwork at a clinic that is close to your home (25 minutes away for me). The clinic emails the results of the bloodwork to the anti-aging clinic. They call you to go over the results, discuss possible treatment options and they then prescribe the medications necessary at that point.
In my case I had really low test levels, both overall and free test. I also have a bad degenerative condition in my lower back that I have been dealing with (surgeries etc) for a number of years. We decided that a heavy dose of test and a moderate dose of deca would be a good starting point. A week later my medicine arrived via fedex and my journey began. A month into it and I feel MUCH better. All the symptoms I had from low test are all but gone and the deca (along with the high test levels) have really helped the pain in my lower back. Now I can re-order whenever I need to and there are several other medicines available to me if I choose to try them. They also have all the anti-estrogen medicine I need in case I have to deal with estrogen-related sides effects (none yet).
It is really simple once you get setup with them. The clinic I use is in Florida. PM me if you would like their contact info.
As for being responsive to questions they have been pretty good. I have my Dr's private cell # and I can call him whenever I need to. He answers half the time and the other times I leave him a message and he gets back to me within a day or two. He also send me text messages/emails etc. I have to say that i'm very pleased with the entire experience and I would recommend it to anyone with low test symptoms.

Thanks Karo that's good to know, I've all but given up trying to go through the mainstream medical channels and it looks like to get the help I need I will probably have to go that route.

Maybe I can use a blend of the two? My Endo still requests regular blood tests every three months and will prescribe the test just won't prescribe the HCG or AI. He says that since I'm 53 and done having kids my testicles really don't have a need anymore. So I guess I'm supposed to be satisfied and just let shrink away, and as far an AI he says that that's prescribed for women with breast cancer and he won't he even think about prescribing that for me. Even though I had gyno surgery a few years ago I'm just supposed to deal with the side effects from the test.

As soon as I get enough post counts I'll PM you...thanks.

Karo - sounds like you have found a great solution. Since being here I have read a lot of similar stories involving frustration with doctors. It seems as though only a small number of doctors learn enough about this area of medicine to be helpful to us, and finding one is a challenge.

Seems like clinics are the way to go, and it will be a while before traditional, more conservative doctors know enough about HRT to be worth a damn.

Rick - Your dr sounds really uneducated. AI only for breast cancer in women? I'm surprised he even gave you the chance for test. Good luck in finding someone new.

Thanks Jadam...yeah it's really frustrating. The funny thing is he's the third one I've been to, my previous Endo referred me to him because he was according to him an authority.

My endo refused to test my E2 as well, saying that it was completely unnecessary. It's sad that so many of us has to resort to using AA clinics to get the appropriate medical attention we need, and that we have to become experts ourselves in order to figure out what is actually going on with our hormone levels.

Hey vetteman, thanks for helping out. I could use the name of a few clinics in my area. I live in upstate New York. I would like to go to them in person but if I have to, I will do the mail thing. Do you know if insurance pays for the clinics? Do you think it's a good idea to continue to get the testosterone enanthate from my doc and just go for the anti-e stuff and hcg from the clinic? Once again, thanks for helping out.

I have been receiving treatment for low tes. They have been prompt and courteous, as well as helpful. Each of there clients has there own personal clinician and a doctors supervision. I am a new client however, three months into my therapy and all seems to be going smoothly. There is a joshua antiaging in New England i beleive for closer to home.I have no idea of its efficacy.

Step over your Dr and Endo and hit the clinics. Save yourself a ton of frustration and energy.

I too was determined to find a local clinic but now after its all over and done with it ended up being just as easy to go out of state. Very simple. The South Fla clinics seem to be the best and have lots of happy customers. PM me if you want the info for the facility I use.

There is a TRT specialist in the Metro NY area that does full & remote care via phone. His practice reguires a retainer that some may find expensive though. However, when you figure the costs for a clinic it pretty much evens out since insurance will many times pay for the majority of the drugs he prescribes (minus the retainer) if he is in your Health Plans network...

Most clinics are similar in price and protocol, some are "generous" which is nice.......the bottom line is this....YOU are responsible for your health.....DONT rely on these idiot doctors or endos to know this stuff.....they dont. DON'T rely on a clinic to control your health either, they make money by selling you a "little bit more" than normal......it's up to YOU to educate yourself on this stuff and stop asking ANY of these people to do your thinking for you, stop guessing and blindly trusting these guys (clinics included) If you take control by starting with educating yourself on the basics it will then be easy to find a clinic and get what you need.

I'm about to switch clinics because I know what I need (and want) now and in the future and I can save a few dollars, bottom line, I don't really care what they say about blood tests or protocol because I've taken the time to learn the basics and I continue to learn each day. There are a ton of clinics out there........get some prices, ask them questions, you should have no problem finding what you need.

I need a recommendation but I'm new. Can't PM. Please advise as I'm also in upstate NY and there isn't a doctor here that covers this area.
