    Anabolic Diet Weight Gain

So I've been on the Anabolic diet for about a month now. I did the "Start Up" phase and it went well. I maintained my size and lost some fat. Now I want to start the "Bulking" phase but I did the calculation for how many calories I should be eating and I don't know how I can achieve this goal on this diet. Here is the calculation:

(your goal weight in lbs + (your goal weight in lbs x 15%) ) x 25kcals

    So I weigh 200lbs and want to weigh 220lbs: (200lbs + (200lbs x 15%) ) x 25 = 6325 kcal/day.

6000+ calories not only seems way too high but I don't know how I can possibly hit that goal especially Mon-Fri when I cant eat over 30 grams of carbs. Before when I wanted to gain weight on a regular diet I would add cups of oatmeal to my shakes and drink a lot of milk. That helped out a lot, but now I can't rely on the oatmeal or milk because of the carbs. Are any of you guys on this diet? Any tips on how to get so many calories in daily? I'm already finding it hard to get 4500 calories on this diet. Not only from a time perspective but also just eating all that food that is either only protein or fat is tough.

Are you SURE that's the calculation? That's ridiculously high - hardly anybody needs 6kcal to gain weight, unless you're a serious 250lb + bodybuilder, then POSSIBLY.

Its just how the diet is setup. Mon-Fri Im supposed to eat almost no carbs and then on the weekend I carb up. Here are a couple links that talk about the diet:

    http://stronglifts.com/anabolic-diet...ic-diet-guide/

    http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/sclark94.htm

Here is the page with the calorie formula: http://stronglifts.com/anabolic-diet...se-weight-fat/

I also think that the suggested calorie amount is insane and just isn't doable on this diet unless you are a monster who can eat all day without getting full. I do like the theory behind this diet though because I do find that when I just do a regular bulk with a lot of carbs my waistline starts to expand quickly.

**I think that calculation on that page might be wrong though. I also saw one where it said your ideal weight x 20-25. So for me it would be 220x20-25 = 4400-5500 which is more reasonable but still tough with no carbs lol.

Good luck trying to get a clean 4500 calories 5 days a week with only 30g carbs. It is almost impossible.

Why not just stick to a good clean diet? Do you really need some fad with a cool name that goes with it?

I wouldn't call it a fad. This diet has been around for a long time. The whole point of this diet is make your body use stored fat for fuel instead of muscle and fat which is what happens on standard "clean" diets.

True, it's been around since the 70's I believe. I read the book a while ago. It's pretty much a straight keto diet. However, if you want to run keto, I think there are far better plans out there - this is kind of outdated IMO (not in principle, but in application). Check out CKD (look for TOP's thread on the Cyclic Ketogenic Diet), or my personal favorite, Palumbo diet.
