Are green beans (in a can) a good veggie to eat with meals? Is it one of those veggies that is a neutral calorie (takes more energy to digest it than it actually contains)?

Green beans are and excellent fiberous carb. Fresh would be much better then canned, but canned is better then nothing.
I'm not sure on the exact stats at the moment and whether they cost more energy to digest then they provide, but DO eat them!
Great answer, gbrice, definitely eat them, more filling than regular green leafy veggies and yes it is a pure fiber source and yes the body has to produce more energy to aid digestion. One important note, fresh is best, frozen is better than canned and canned, I like to rinse because of the high sodium added. Should eat as much and as often, can't go wrong.
You can eat them raw too. I find they are a great snack in the car while driving.
Green beans also have a slight diuretic effect! Eat up!!!
Ugh, I sound like an idiot! I was typing on my iPhone earlier and ALWAYS seem to make a typo!
Thanks for the responses guys! And yea, I noticed on the can, they are fairly high in sodium. Think I'll start rinsing them as well!
