    Number of sets

Don't know for sure if things can be simplified to this degree, but wondering if there is a target number of sets per muscle group for each workout. Especially major muscle groups like chest. For example if a guy does 4 exercises and 4sets per exercise that would be 16 sets. Is there a preferred number of sets I should shoot for? Would bulk lifting differ from cutting?

Give this a read. He does specify that this is general guidelines for the non-drug user, but I don't know if you're on or not. so http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/mus...ass-gains.html

It all depends on your training style, there is no rite or wronge answer

    You can do volume training

Or you can do a form of HIT training

There are loads of training programs/styles out there, pick one an run with it, see what you get back in retur

Lift heavy and grow, it's so much more simple then people make it. Don't let it get complicated, there's tons of effective simple workout plans - I enjoy those 5x5

One thing that I see in the gym is guys lifting so heavy that there form is awful. Find a weight you can control form (alone) and completely fail on around 5-8 reps on your last set of each exercise. That's a good place to start. You will get results.

If you're reaching failure on each exercise then 10-12 sets for big muscle groups and 6-9 for small groups would be another good start imo
