He's on trial for lying to a federal grand jury during the initial federal probe into BALCO labs. Supposedly, they found records at BALCO that implemented Bonds and several other athletes. Marion Jones was in the same probe and found guilty for lying to the same federal grand jury and ended up serving jail time. But she also copped a plea deal that gave her less time than if she took it to trail. Bonds thinks he stands a better chance keeping to his story and going to trial.
