Post workout shake with psyllium husk??

Has anyone experienced this with psyllium husk in their protein shake? Just curious because I need to get some fiber in my diet and wondered if this would be a good idea?

Psyllium husk is a great supplement for overall digestive health but probably not a good idea pwo as it will slow the absorption of your protein.

Psyllium husk is an excellent means of getting more dietary fiber into your diet due to its high fiber count in comparison to other grains. Oat bran, also a good source of fiber, has about five grams of fiber per a third of a cup. Psyllium husk, on the other hand, offers approximately 71 grams of fiber for that same third of a cup. However, taken with your PWO protein shake, Psyllium husk will certainly slow down the absorbtion of the protein, making it a poor choice of natural fiber supplement merely because of its timing in this case. You can take it with meals, in between meals or even before meals for a better functioning healthier digestive system.

n00bs: That is not exactly a great advice to follow for some people. Some people suffer from serious stomach issues when they consume even little to moderate amounts of broccoli and it is a chronic issue with most of them. I have personally witnessed people bending and rolling around on the floor after a portion of broccoli, swearing that they will never do the same mistake again, who have similarly sworn in the past. No doubt, broccoli is a great source of fiber besides offering many other great nutritive values but then there is also the problem of gas due to the presense of a carbonhydrate called ''raffinose'' in broccoli, which can be quite ''lethal'' especially in social environments as I am sure many of us have experienced before LOL.
