    Natural Peanut Butter

I was wondering what everyone’s thoughts were on natural peanut butter. I tend to eat a lot of it for the protein, but sometimes I think I might be eating too much. I usually eat a little over one jar of peanut butter a week. I usually eat it with apples, or load it on 100% whole wheat bread.

    Thanks for everyone’s input.

I stay away from natty PB for one reason: it's way too freaking easy to over eat on it. I've never heard of anyone eating too many fish oil caps, but when you're hungry it's real easy to have an extra Tbsp of PB.

If you have the will power, good for you, it's a decent fat source.

    ^^^ This, 100%.

btw - you said you eat alot for the protein, but it's not a complete source so don't fool yourself. Yes, combining it with a grain such as wheat does provide the missing amino's which then makes it complete, but the fat to protein ratio is insane and absolutely not worth it. You can eat lean protein sources that have 3x as much protein for the same serving size.

Having said that - if it fits within your daily caloric/macro allotment and you have the will power to stop, go for it.

i dont understand why so many people say they eat pb for protein...it has less than half protein to fat...i think even less than oatmeal..

but agree...LOVE IT...would be sad without it

double checked...guess its pretty close...7g per 2tbsp but definately considered a fat source not protein

It comes down to you being able to fit it into your macros. For someone to properly answer this question, you'd have to post up your goals and your diet.

Guys throw in 1/2 cup of ff cottage cheese into your shake, that is if it fits within your macros. It really makes your shake creamy (obviously use the blender).

Always wanted to try this, but the wife is asleep by then and I can't be blending that late.

Doesn't it get kind of separated and nasty sitting there?

Depends on how long you keep it in the fridge. I have left in there about 2 hours before and with a quickly little shake its good to go.
