HIT in the morning on Empty stomach, is this a good idea?

    164 lbs
    175 cm
    bf : 22
Goal : loosing the fat, and toning up and add a bit of lean mass (before proper bulk in winter)

Hi Guys, I am in the process of sorting out my training, The diet is 90% sorted and the Weights are going well, I am know that fasted cardio is good, how about High interval training on fasted state?

is there any advantages to it or should i just stick to steady state cardio? in fasted state

I know that i am not making progress quick as i wanted, i know that this is due to no or barely any cardio at all so.

    you advice would be appreciated

HIIT is good, but you wouldn't want to do it everyday fasted. make sure if you are doing HIIT to keep it under 30 minutes when fasted. switch it up between low and high intensity days. have some days where you just do the treadmill at 12.0 incline at 4 mph for 30 minutes. baseline just posted an awesome HIIT routine in his thread in the diet section.

HIIT is a glycogen dependent training system, your body requires glycogen, and lots of it to perform it efficiently...

If you do not have glycogen readily availiable your body will make some via Gluconeogenesis (a process of turning amino acids (muscle) into glucose)

The purpose of HIIT is to create an EPOC which will result in an elevated metabolic rate, thus burning more calories.

I do not see any advantage of performing HIIT in a fasted state... None at all!

    Carbs before, protein after...

I do see an advantage of fasting yourself of carbs Post HIIT but Im not going to go into any more detail In this post

I didnt use anything to measure the body fat except a scale which send a bit of pulse through your feet, i know its not exact but at the end of the day its numbers i like to see. (tbh i just check the mirror now but just keep an eye on it.)

True everyday would just be an overkill, i dont think i would be able to do it physically anyways cos i will be knackered . but it just case of getting up and running and the thought of running for 45 mins seem freakin boring

    agree with this 100%..

the issue is if you are going to do fasted cardio you should be doing low intensity.. example for me is 110 heart rate makes for fat loss/use as energy..

and that's the benefit to fasted cardio..

HIT on an empty stomach will eat your muscles like termite through wood, cause that would be the source of energy. Low impact almost brisk walking on a slight incline will help burn fat.

Moreover I wont advice HIT on empty stomach unless you are not a seasoned athlete depending on the intensity you will lose energy, feel lighted headed, and if sugar drops too low can passout.
