MRI results in saying complete tear of the acromioclavicular ligament w/ separation.

Just got over surgery on the same shoulder over a year ago for high grade tear in my distal superapinatus tendon. The recovery was brutal & slow. I've quit all contact sports & was just taking baby steps from last years surgery. When I picked up the activity (I'm a 38yo recreational fighter/solider w/ 19 yrs in). The range of motion for my (L) shoulder wasn't there & much weaker than my (R) shoulder. I'm 18mo post op from the last surgery & I would hate to go under the knife again. What do you think? What are my options? I've done nothing physically with weights or fighting for the past 3-4mo. Just cardio so I'm not doing anything to aggravate the injury. Advice please!!!

Get a 2nd opinion. Check into HA therapy injections. Google it. According to my sports medicine doctor I need surgery on both of my shoulders. I'm putting it off as long as possible but lately it's getting worse, not better and I'm only lifting light.

Trust me the worst & most debilitating period of my life but I've been told to do what you gotta do b/c it won't get better over time.

The first time he told me I would need surgery to fix my right shoulder was over 2 years ago. It took some time but got 90% better if not more. My left shoulder started hurting out of the blue a couple of months ago and also my right at first. My right is 80% ok now but the left is still the same. I'm working on the normal rotator cuff exercises and broom stick as well as Ice. The strange thing is it feels better to a point when I am lifting but then worse later.

Sorry to hear . The small aches and pains are debilitating some days . That is without need for surgery .
Only someone that recovered could give suggestions from experience as I can only imagine treatments .
    Good luck

I almost forgot, one of the best things you can do when the pain is bad is use ice. Trust me, my shoulders get BAD sometimes but due to back problems also I have pain meds when needed. I'm still trying different things to fix the shoulders without surgery until I have no choice. I'm also trying Cissus. I have read a lot of good things about it form users, not adds.
