    need some adivce

A girl im friends with is 22 and pregnant. she works at a family entertainment type place as a cashier. Her manager is a d!ck for many reasons. To my point he is trying to tell her to get an abortion. She has already decided to keep the baby.
He keeps telling all the reasons not too. This is unsolicited comments and advice. She is not happy about it and it bothers her. She already called HR about a different issue. She wanted to wear a different uniform shirt because she is pregnant. He said no. She called HR and corp and they said yes of course you can. Well once he found that out her hours got cut. So she is afraid to complain again.

I'm really pissed about this. She is young and under enough stress. I want to kick his ass but wont. Do i send an anonymous email to their corporate office?

And NO its not my kid

anonymous e-mail isn't a bad idea.. or even have her contact them again and ask for the complaint to stay anonymous... These days lawsuits run rampant n how she's being treated she could definitely win if she has any proof or is reprimanded further... HR will have to step in

I think she should go talk to HR again, and keep them informed with EXACTLY what's going on... i.e. her hours have been cut since her last complaint to them.

In small companies like I work for (with no true HR), management can pretty much get away with murder and there ain't shit I can do about it. In a corporate environment, the people with brains know they need to be very careful as they're held to certain standards. If this guy is being a prick (which he clearly is), he needs to be dealt with. Sounds like it's borderline harassment and they don't take that stuff lightly.

I don't know her obviously - but at 22, I can't imagine she has a position so prestigious that losing it would ruin her life, i.e. aren't her rights worth fighting for, even if the threat of possibly losing the job looms over her?

Writing an anonymous letter, or even get the HR number from her and make an anonymous call. I'm pretty sure somewhere in their corporate policy it advises against what that guy is doing. Also, maybe if you have a friend thats a lawyer you could have them write a cease and desist type of letter for her...let them know if the situation isn't handled internally, that she will pursue legal recourse...which really she should do anyway.

The company she works for more than likely has an anonymous whistle blower type protocol. If her boss is seriously pulling that shit he should be fired on the spot. Absolutely unacceptable.

I just fired a manager from my store for giving one my female team members "unwanted attention." There should be zero tolerance for this bullshit.

Well then this would be a great opportunity to have the HR dept. 'flex' and show they're not gonna take any shit.

Perfect. Afew main point that she or better yet an attornet needs to make to this new hr dept.
#1 - Is this the type of mamngemnet representative your company wishes to rely on to grow and expand your business?
#2 - At this time of growth - in this economy - one can only imagine the impact of a lawsuit against your company based on the egregious conduct of one individual obviously not proiperly screened or qualified by the company to perform his duties in an appropraite or even legal manner.

    ^^^^ FTW

You can have a lawyer draft up a letter for a fairly low cost. He'll be drooling at the chops for a lawsuit too so I'd friggin go this route. A lot of times the laywer wont charge - he'll take comission from the judgment as long as he thinks he's got the upper hand to win.

Whistle blower protection is only extended to those employees who report instances that they believe would mean they are breaking the law, or have witnessed someone breaking the law.

This and DONT do it anonymously. It needs to be recorded. She needs to make it clear what is happening and if she throws enough out there at once there is no way he will fire her or he is open to a BIG lawsuit.

I like the idea you had/did of letting the anti abortion groups know. I'm sure they will give him hell.

If HR does not get it taken care of right away then the attorney idea is also good. I have had them write letters for me and it has always been effective.

I would give HR the opportunity to remove this scumbag, if there is 8 locations then they can move him, inform HR if he isn't removed within a week you will be contacting an attorney as well as the local news. I bet he is removed within that week!!!
