Thread: Just so I have my information correct.

Just so I have my information correct.

I have a lot of lose skin and faced with two options... surgery or enhancements + gym. I have already tried the natural way of doing things and it has yet to work. I dieted down too fast and too far and lost a lot of lean body mass. Not sure what my actual bodyfat percentage is but I would say with the loose skin added it's close to 20%.. if it wasn't for the skin issue it would probably be a lot lower. Should I go with the enhancements + gym or the surgery to remove the skin issue?

    Welcome to the Diet Forum!

When you say enhancements I assume steroids? if so you would be a lot better off getting your BF down lower first to avoid sides especially.

Could you please post up a sample of what you eat and when for review.

IMO? get your lean mass back up and then decide what to do.

I know that's it recommended to have a lower bodyfat percentage but even when I weighed in at 145 pounds I was carrying around close to 20% bodyfat.
I eat on a daily basis a soup or chili mix that contains 2,400 calories 100gr fat, 150gr pro, 225gr carbohydrates.
I tried the low carb approach no help, tried primal no help, tried gym without enhancements no help, tried more cardio again no help except I did get down to 145 pounds.. was unable to live at 145 pounds without going nuts over food.

I don't think you have a clear understanding of what I am saying though..

I have two options not three I done tried the third.. either enhancements or surgery..

this forum is about option # 3 which is learning to eat correctly so if you want opinions on whether or not to do enhancements aka steroids at 20% bf with no intentions of eating correctly then I doubt many members would suggest enhancements so your other option is your call...

I already know how to eat correctly. Do you not know what excess skin is?

    Do you see that?

This is what 20% bodyfat looks like without the excess skin

Notice the difference? One can diet down and one has to go through surgery to have it removed.. I don't want to waste 11k on surgery.

I have edited your post, you may want to read our rules. *admin*

BTW you state you already know how to eat correctly, if so, why when you post what you have been eating does it not sound like it... bags of chips hamburgers etc. is not a sound diet...

Now that said, if you are in the condition you have posted above on your link than I am sorry but your options really are limited. I think you need to diet for sure as well as seek medical advise on this, the person in the link still has a large amount of body fat to lose from the stomach area not just skin.

Love having admin mixing it up in the diet section!!!

OP, he's right - alot of people who say they "know how to eat" and have "tried everything to no avail" THINK they have, but haven't. Suggest you try to be a bit more open minded and give diet and exercise another try prior to spending a ton of cash on surgery, and/or potentially fvcking yourself up with 'enhancements'. Remember, in your past/failed endeavors, you didn't have the support of this board. That has made the difference for alot of people, just ask around!

BTW - I understand your dilemma, I was 255lbs at 30% + bodyfat at one point, and dieted down (fast and improperly) to a low of 178lbs at my lowest (5'11 btw). Also have loose skin, etc. Before you consider surgery, you need to diet down and shed as much bodyfat as possible. Only then will you REALLY be able to distinguish between what's actual bodyfat, and what's simply loose skin.

I hope you'll reconsider and listen to our advice...

If you have excessive loose skin, your only options are to fill it in (with massive muscle or body implants) or too lop it off.
Depending on age/genetics/smoker/speed of weight loss (to a point)/ speed of weight gain / amount of sun exposure/ how hydrated you keep/your nutrition intake/ length of time were stretched. Every person’s skin elasticity varies, but when dealing with excessive loose skin its all the same no matter what you have for^ these factors.

“There is an inherent elasticity in everyone’s skin, but once you get to a certain size, the elasticity decreases,” explains Jason Spector, M.D., assistant professor of plastic surgery at Weill Medical College of Cornell University.

"While exercise that includes a strength-training program to firm up deconditioned muscles under the skin certainly can help a person’s body look better and more toned, Jakicic notes, it can’t completely remedy extreme sagginess after massive weight loss."

Right there with you - I went (improperly fast at the expense of muscle) from 235 to 160 at one point.

OP, how much weight did you lose? Can you post a shot of yourself? How tall are you, and what do you weigh now?
