    Arm days bad for bulking?

Trying to put on some size. Is having an arm day going to hinder arm growth because of over training? Or will it help increase arm size if done right? I would do my biceps 3 days after my back day and I would do the same for triceps after chest.

ive had best results training bi's on back day and tri's on chest day, both done last of course.

they get blasted once pw that way which = more recovery time

I wouldn't say it would hinder anything at all. It all depends on your workout regime and how you tie it in as a whole.

I think if we had the entire workout routine we could answer your question better

I do back and biceps and chest and triceps like dec11 does. Do back first than biceps, and on chest days do chest first, then triceps. My routine is a 3 day on, 1 day off routine and seems to work pretty decently so far... for instance:

    Monday: chest/triceps
    Tuesday: back/biceps
    Wednesday: Shoulder/legs
Thursday: Off (eat day, eat even more than most days to recover everything and be ready to repeat the same 3 day on starting friday)
    Friday: Chest/triceps
    Saturday: Back/Biceps
    Sunday: Shoulders/Legs
    Monday: Eat day
    Repeat.

This.. stick with your compound movements and train as said above. Bulk now, sculpt later IMO.

For bulking i would only train each body part once a week .. and just compound exercises .. Twice a week i think you would not get enough recovery time .

Ok, but what was your proposed arm day routine going to be like?

you could do BI and tri together and really blow them up. Once a week by them selves .

I've had this for years and my arms go between 19-20 inches. But still...he needs to propose his weekly routine for that arm day in the bulking. He would need to stick with one body part a week and hit all the areas properly. imo

I just do all bi and then all tri. Or vice versa. I superset at end with the cable machine and do that at the end of the workout for one exercise to get the pump going good.

supersetting is when you combine two exercises, ie:

hammer curl then immediately tri extension
    break
    repeat

Bis and tris are small muscle groups and don't need their own day. I bet you are overtraining your arms.

I agree... no need to seperate those. Also... no shoulders/abs? bi/tri are getting hit secondary to many of those other groups your hitting. I would implement deadlifts with back too so that you hit your legs again on another day.

Working back/bis and tris together is a good idea, or you could train arms with shoulders since shoulders is a relatively small muscle groups compared to chest, legs and back. You could try this split.
    Mon: Shoulders/arms
    Tues: Legs
    Wed: Rest
    Thurs: Chest
    Fri: Back including deads
    Sat/Sun Rest.

    Monday- back with deads
    tuesday-chest
    wednesday- off
    thursday- legs
    friday- shoulders and arms
    sat/sun- off
