    Calve training

Which is the best way to train for size..
High weight low reps or low weight high reps?
Considering the fast and slow twitch fibers
What responds the best to the different stimuli?

I always thought jump rope when done properly does well on them. Then weighted jump rope.

The 'best thing' is a combination of both... as well as varying frequency and volume.

Guys tend to approach calves with one of three mentalities:
    1. Half-assing... and bitching about genetics
    2. Throwing everything and the kitchen sink at 'em in every session
    3. Doing the same thing (re: reps and loading scheme) every session

The problem with the 1st, is that it won't get you jack shit. With the second, you can overtrain 'em... get 'em strong, but they don't get any bigger (or, sometimes they shrink - trust me... I've been there).

With the 3rd, you really don't provide stimulus for change. You just get better at doing the same shit over and over.

    My calves:

^^When I started competing, I didn't have jack shit. I trained 'em hard as hell... and still dudes used to make fun of 'em.

Then I started trying new stuff: Resisted negative work, skipping, very high reps, very low reps... modified exercises... cycling in periods of daily calf-training, with periods of sporadic training.

It's a struggle to stimulate growth from year to year... but it's happening slowly but surely.

I do a combination of high and low rep. I always try to keep the weight heavy tho and it seems to be working
