    what sauces are ok ?

    Was hoping to do a bit of mass cooking in order to fit round work commitments , noticed that on many of the nutrition threads there is a distinct lack of flavourings .
    Was thinking of cooking up a load of brown rice adding it to veg and loads of chicken, doing it in the wok with a little olive oil and putting it in containers to take to work. Would ideally like to add a bit of flavour to break the montony but not sure of what to use. Would a handfull of black beans or a splash of sweet chillie sauce be ok or does anyone have any better suggestions?

    sounds like a winner , but noticed that your location was planet earth ! I too am an earthling but is this something I may be able to get in Scotland ?

    cayenne pepper, paprika, cajun spices, 0% fat greek yohgart with mint and lemon, soy sauce, salt, vinegar, sweet chilli dipping sauce. yum yum

    I like to use dry rubs on my chicken and tilapia, for tilapia i used a blacken seasoning made with paprika, black pepper, garlic, onion, cayenne pepper, rosemary, salt, mustard, white pepper, and a few other i dont remember, for chicken store bought seasoning, mc cormick has some really good ones, smokehouse maple, bbq, onion something, hamburger, etc

    thanks for advice, trying to get diet right, been looking at various posts and all they mentioned was chicken , rice , fish , pasta etc Thought you guys had blandest diet ever, delighted to hear a few herbs and spices can be added.

    Get glass 1 tbles spoon of mustard 1 table spoon of extra vigin olive oil and one -two table spoons of cider viniger mix all together and thats it m8 can cook it alittle on your chicken as well lovely stuff lol

    Cayenne Pepper, Red Chili Flakes, Mustard, Soy Sauce, Red Dragon "Black Bean Sauce" (Look for this in the "oriental" aisle of your grocery store), Lemon, Cracked Pepper, etc are all good choices. When I make my chicken+rice+veggies I do a stir fry theme. Teaspoon of Soy sauce per serving (watch the sodium) and half a tablespoon of black bean sauce per serving, absolutely delicious.

    My gf and I use balsamic vinegar all the time for flavor. If you're worried about calories, Bragg's liquid amino sauce is a good calorie free substitute that tastes just like soy sauce, but is a little more potent. Also, Walden Farms makes a number of calorie free sauces, syrups, salad dressings, etc. and many of them are pretty good too (my favorite is the alfredo)

    If your cooking in advance, I'd highly recommend using "wet" rubs ( marinades ) on the meat of choice.. mainly because if you do this the for "X" amount of time it will allow the meat to soak up all the flavours of the marinade and also in a way preserve the flavour for an extended period of time.. I usually dabble in home made marinades and let it soak for up to 4hours plus.. once cooked... let the meat cool down to room temperature before placing in containers/zip lock bags.... and this will maintain the tenderness and flavour upon reheating.
