too much talking in the gym

I don't know about anyone elses gym but at my gym it more like a frickin social club. I train in the mornings and it is just frickin unreal. There is this guy that looks like maybe he use ro compete and still kinda big but you can tell that time has taken its toll. Anyway he always and I mean always has something to say to me wether its my posture or the weight that I'm lifting he always seems to have something to say. Don't get me wrong I like when people critiqe me but most of the time I. Jus want to get in and do work and get out. Sorry fr the rant but it just really kills my training sessions

there are things at the gym thsat bother me - other people socializing isnt one of them. I dont care wtf they are doing. If they arent in may way or leaving their sweat all over the equipment i could care less. As far as people coming up and talking its amazing what a pair of headphones and a focused demanor can do. If that fails when the come up to talk you just smile and nod and keep right on doing what u are doing.

Headphones and avoiding eye contact keeps me from ever needing to talk to anyone other then to ask how many sets they have left, or to ask if they are done.

Mabe your the guy that he sees week in and week out, who sits in the same station for half an hour with a confused look on his face, trying to lift too much weight, or not enough weight, with bad posture, the same mistakes he used to make, so he tries to help, but gets ridiculed in a random steroid forum for his efforts... No but i agree, I hate when people talk alot in the gym. Heres what I do...walk thru the door, put my headphones on, Turn volume up to ten, Play Kingdom of Sorrow, then put on a brutal display of skill and power for all to see. lol jk , but really im serious....

The talking doesn't bother me as long as they're not hovering around equipment pretending to get a workout in. That pisses me off. But what pisses me off even more are these guys that think that they're throwing around serious weight, grunting and carrying on. Then don't re-rack the weights. I'm the first person to ask them if they are done w/the hammer machine, and they say "yes'" i tell them i can't lift that much weight, so can you please take that weight off so i can use it? Works every time. Although i do get some weird looks from time to time. And a lot of times i won't even use the machine. Just hate people that don't re-rack.

When you train hard I find that people bother you less because they can see how focused you are

I wear a cap low and dont let people make eye contact with me for long

I honestly don't think he meant any disrespect or harm mate. I think he was just stating his feelings, may wanna ask him. For what it is worth I'm actually enjoying the readings on this thread. I tried the ballcap idea once, it messed my form up so bad I ended up giving the guys that always bothered me my hat and informed them why I was wearing it to begin with.

I would LOVE for someone to come up and talk to me. I get so lonely I get all twitchy and stuff. Hell I have to talk to myself just to have any conversation. I however, don't have any problems with anybody hogging machines.

I kept a straight face thanked him and he walked away beaming while i kept on tweaking away at my rear delts lol

This! I can't stand it. Especially when they know your waiting. Or when I'm obviously on a machine and I leave my towel and keys by it with some dumbbells to go grab a 15 second drink and wtf do you know... Some Dumbass is on it. And they then say oh I didn't see your stuff.... Really?

Thank god I am in a foreign country full of people that believe hollywood movies are the true american way. Arabs think americans are crazy as hell, so they dont fvck with us. The most anyone has said to me in a gym is "are you using that"?

Yea it is serious. I had to look up so far on a couple lifts that my posture felt all screwed and on other lifts the bill just always felt like something I had to lift "around" so after about 3/4 through that day I said fvck it and laid the hat down. On literally my last lift 2 of the guys came over and starting saying something, I cut them off and said" hey, you want my hat? I was wearing it so people maybe would leave me be while I'm lifting but it didn't work." they still give me the occasional hello but that's about it now.

I always wear a low cap, headphones, and make no eye contact. My gym is rather small, so when people talk they are usually sitting on a machine or bench. Drives me nuts.
