What can i say, today was a defining day for me, when i went down into my basement and did my chest, bicep workout.
I was actually able to push some weight, and actually did 40 pounds db curls for 6 controlled reps. Tears in my eyes, yeah this reply is far from being macho but i don't care.
No more then 6 weeks ago i was on the verge of depression, asking myself how much time i was going to be benched and if i would ever lift a weight again in my life. I got well over 6000$ equipement in my basement 2000$ for my leg press hack squat alone.
I was wondering if i needed to sell all my equipement and that really gave me a punch in the stomach.
The pain in my upper back was awful, my hand grip was gone, my hands hurt, my wriste hurt, my knee hurt, my feet hurt.
I was falling apart, i was all screwed up in my head because i remembred guys at the gym and one of my friend being 46 years old and pushing 350 pounds on the bench press, being strong has a horse. I am 39 years old and felt like my life was over.
I even went to a trigger point specialist that told me weight lifting caused me to build scar tissue and that he had to break it down, is treatments where good, but the pain always came back even if i did nothing.
He even got me to buy some resitance bands and gave me a program to do with them. Even then the pain came back and i had to go back for more treatments.
I told my medical doctor that i was very depressed about my situation, that my chronic pain was driving me crazy, we had gone true some prolotherapy treatments and PRP treatments with some benefits, for the neck pain trap pain we had tried botox injection that did close to nothing god bless my insurance that covered every penny of this treatment.
He took the decision to put me on testosterone androgel gel. After 2 weeks on the androgel my pain was a lot worst for 2 days, i had hacks and pain everywhere in my body, i went back to is office and asked to be put on injections.
It as now been 5 weeks, and i cannot beleive how my life has turned around, my upper traps pain is gone, i still have ligament laxity but that will be fixed very soon. My pains in the hand, knees, feet are gone, and my hand grip is strong again. This is just insane.
I now have hope that at some point i will start weight lifting for good once more and even might be able to work myself to lift the same weight i did before i injured myself. Of course squatting and deadlifting are things of the past that will remain in the past, because i got injured real bad with them, but if i can work myself to a 220 pounds bench press and 135 pounds military press that will be just amazing.
