I read in a previous thread that dead lifts should only be done every other week to prevent over training. They are part of my back workout and if this is true should I just rotate in a different exercise every other week?

Each person is different. Also, how much weight, sets and reps also come in to effect. I am currently doing a 5/3/1 workout which you deadlift once per. week but the volume and reps are fairly low.
Im doing 5 sets and staying around 8 reps
in general i wouldnt go anymore than 8reps on deads
Right now I'm following "Starting Strength" which has me doing 1 set of 5 reps 2x one week and 1x the next (with 5 warm up sets progressively adding weight).
Alright I guess I will do them every other week but they are my worst exercise as I have neglected doing them for so long. So should I do something else for back on my off week from deadlifts?
