Endocrinologist Visit: Complicated...Mods/Vets input and advice...

    Group,

It's been a long time since I've been in here. I have had some major life changes in the past two years, but it's all behind me now! Its time for me to start hitting the gym again so...

Read info below and then please comment on my questions.

    45yo
    5' 10"
    175lbs
    6-8 (10-12 week) cycles Test prop/Test E combo's
    Last cycle May 2010

I haven't seen the inside of a gym forever and I am small and lucky that my bf% is still low as I try to eat clean the majority of the time.

I asked my endocrinologist to check my testosterone and estradiol. He called me and said my testosterone is really low, but didn't comment on the estradiol. He wants me to check with my new insurance plan to see if they will cover testosterone. His staff is faxing me the blood work results tomorrow so as soon as I know the levels, I will update this post.

My old insurance plan used to pay for Test but my endo only prescribed 1cc twice a month of test, I believe it was 200mg/cc and I am calling my new insurance plan from my new job to see if they will pay.

I used to see an HRT Doc before the majority of them shut down. At that time it was determined that I convert testosterone easily into estrogen which I felt inhibited growth.

One final note, I was diagnosed with Graves Disease of the thyroid and had it treated with I-131. I have been on synthroid, however, recently it was discovered my GI tract quit absorbing it effectively, so I was switched to Tirosint and my most recent TSH was 20!

    1. What's the best way to encourage my endo to dose my test at 200mg per week?
    2. He is increasing my Thyroid Medication (Tirosint) to 220mcg/day, will the increased dose affect muscle growth?
    3. My favorite cycle was Prop/Test E and Proviron, is it possible to brew proviron yourself like other Steroids? Proviron was developed as an anti-e, but for whatever reason my body LOVED it.

    Comment away....

I'm currently running 175 per week for the last 3 years but just got my blood work done today so wee will see what happens next. Most people seem to be good with 150 all the way up to 300 a week. Make sure you look into HCG also, I'm going over it with my doctor/endo this week. Look up Dr. Crislers web page with good information regarding TRT Test and HCG.

he should look at your blood test and give you the approiate dose to get your levels where they should be,100mg a month wont begin to get them in the normal range

    Here are my lab results:

    Estradiol = 19.0 (Range 0.0 - 39.8)

    Testosterone Total = 178 (Range 241 - 827)

    T-4 = 0.9 (Range 0.8 - 1.8)

TSH 20.6 (Range 0.4 - 4.5) **We expected this to be high as I am switching to a new thyroid medication**

    Comments?

i dont think you are going to convince him off the jump to give you 200mg a week. He is starting you at pretty much the norm 200mg every 2 weeks. You will have to get follow up blood work and see what that puts you. That dose had me well over the "normal" levels. Everyone is different
If people can't tell your on steroids then your doing them wrong

Agree Gixxerboy1. With my diagnosis of Graves Disease in 2007, my test levels have been all over the place. We had a pretty good handle on my test levels until my (former) insurance plan quit pay for my HRT meds. Now that my (new) insurance plan covers (most) HRT related prescriptions, and he now understands how serious I am about pursuing the 'out-of-the norm' blood chemistries (recently asked to have a Pregnenolone chemistry ordered) and to look at the 'whole picture', he seems to be very open.

I will keep you posted as I find out more info...thanks for the input!!

x2. He'll likely start you out @ +/- 100 mgs/week. He may then change it based on BW results & how you feel...

My endo just told me the HCG is only given for fertility and it's not his specialty so he doesn't/wont prescribe it. I guess real/full TRT isnt his specialty either.

There unfortunately are a lot of bad doctors in that field. But at least he's not willing to prescribe something for something he doesn't know much about. Did he at least refer you to somebody else?

You need to stay on top of that graves Disease that is no joke. That runs in my wifes family. My wife and her sister have it.My wife gained weight and had to have her thyroid removed.Things still aint right her sister took some kind of pill instead and now her eyes bulge out.Looks like shit but she doest do the things she is suppose to.Plus she didnt go to the Doc in time.I hope you have better luck with it than they did.

Have him read the inside label of an hcg prescription. It clearly states it is used for hypogonadism. I personally have just gone through what youre talking about, actually most of us in the HRT forum here have, and I just ended up going to Crisler this last week as it was impossible to find a doctor willing to treat with other than 30 year old methodologies.

Yeah I may do the same. I sent him an email earlier today to see if maybe I can get him to just prescribe the HCG if I send him all my blood work without having to do the full consultation or if he has any doctors he has worked with in my area successfully.

I faxed the info on HCG that is posted under the HRT forum, his nurse called me and said, and I quote "HCG is for women only" I laughed inside. Consequently, he did agree to 1ml per week.

My pharmacy called and said my Endo called in a 3 month supply of test, but it was on back order and has been since SEPTEMBER. What's up with that?
