Just had my appendix removed unfortunatly it was full of tumors

    What's up all,

As some of you may know I have been off my game for about the last 4-5 months with the last two being one sickness after another ( Bronchitis, Intestinal parasite, Recurrent severe fatique) well last week while taking the second round of anitbiotics in a month this time for supposed intestinal parasites I started having severe abdominal pain and would up at the ER where a CT scan confirmed a severly inflamed and suspect appendix.

Sadly after the removal the next day the surgeon told me that along with it being gangrenous, biopsy showed it has tumors through it. Well that was 4 days ago and I have been home for 2 and the organ is at Johns Hopkins being examined as evidently tumors of the appendix are pretty rare so my surgeon wanted to take time and confer with colleages before meeting with me tommorow. At that point I will find out if they feel the chance it spread or has been succesfully removed and a game plan will be set-up.

If anyone here has had tumors of the appendix I would love to know your experience with them and what the outcome was, particularly since if you are reading this the outcome was good LOL.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post and I will post an update tommorow.

    Thanks EastCoast

On a good note along with all the other problems that the appendix was causing that were being misdiagnosed I also had been suffering from a pretty bad shoulder pain in my left shoulder. I had been toying with the idea of having it looked at and seeing if surgery was the best option but the damn thing just did not behave quite the way a rotator cuff tear should and every time they looked at it they said that they could not find the problem. Well it turns out that it was reffered pain and now a week later I am virtually pain free so if my labs come back good I really look forward to rehab without always working around the shoulder pain.

One of my friends little brothers was like 14 or 15 when they found out he had multiple tumors in his brain. They were kind of small. They did surgery and removed them. He is fine and like a normal guy today. Medical technology today is amazing.

Whats up all thanks to everyone for the kind words and support.

TCW, Yeah finally getting my digestion back and other than that I really feel fine. The other thing you asked if any other bloodwork came back, not in regards to tumor markers etc. at least not that my Doc has told me about yet. However on a funny note there I am with this history of feeling severe fatique for 4 months and having taken 2 courses of antibiotics in two months, loss of 20 lbs etc. and they are getting bloodwork back with astronoimcally high RBC's and on top of that my blood pressure was 170/86 whether or not they did a male hormone panel I don't know but I have my suspicions the doc is starting to catch on to the fact that something is not quite right in FFM-ville LOL.

I just weighed myself again and I am currently 196 at 6'1" were as 6 months ago I was 218. That's not all bad though as my body fat is really low now, so with careful diet and excersize I should be able to get back to 220 and with half the fat I was carrying 6 months back.

    Thanks again,

    FFM

    Positive Mental Energy Beats Ailments!

You can heal your body with Positive thoughts and Energy....i have done it myself (along with numerous others that i've met and studied).

Imagery, Visualization techniques and Transcendental Meditation...very, very, powerful.

Takes practice...but people heal themselves everyday....more common in Eastern countries.

Wow, glad to see you are doing better but that is just crazy. I would have never though of something like that would effect your shoulder???

Keep us updated on the results and we are all praying that it turns out to be nothing and all is good.

    Best of luck mate.

    Good Outcome thanks to everyone

Just got back from the Docs and Hopkins did not find any cancer.

However it was not all good the tumors were adenocarcinoid a type that can later metasistisize and the margins between the tumor and the intestional cut were rather narrow so they want me to follow up with an oncologist to see what his recommendation would be however my doc thinks he is likely to just take a conservative view and wait and see. Myself I am going to think it over and may just skip the whole follow up since its really just a crap shoot anyway and I would just as soon start eating right and get back to the gym and deal with the shit if and when it ever rears its ugly head.

Thanks to everyone for all the support, prayers, and kind words.

I hope this does not include DSM and Sholva, at 196 and change I am feeling kinda vulnerable right now and I hear Sholva's a big fan of violent penitentiary style sex!

    Best!

Yeah I agree^, its best to follow up with the DOC just to erase any doubts you may have. I would rather a Doc tell me I am in the clear and later find out I have something than blow the Doc off then later find out I was terminal.

Thanks everyone for all the support. And yes you all are right, I will do the follow up since then if nothing else I will have a better understanding of what to expect down the road as far as any signs of a reccurance, if so what's the course of action, how fast will it progress etc.

What I was talking about in the follow up with the oncologist is that my doc says he may want to remove some of the adjacent tissue (That is either parts/all of the lower intestine and/or colon.) but my doc feels he will probably be conservative and leave things alone.

I have read a bunch of stuff on medline on this type of situation and it all points to the initial though of the medical community that since the appendix is attached to the lower intestine that removal of some adjacent tissue as a precaution is wise seems to be unfounded in practice. One study on 100 patients who had surgery to remove the appendix due to Goblet Cell Carcinoma or had removal followed up by removal of all/part of the lower intestine and/or all or part of the colon, found no significant change in survival rate among those who had simple appendix removal or any variables of further tissue removal. Survival was 60% at 5 years regarless of the aggresiveness of surgery, so I surely do not wish to undergo that sort of debilitating surgery unless there is a very significant change in survival as quality of life after removal of all or part of the digestive/alimentary tract is always a lifestyle changer.

Particularly in someone who is in my situation and has dropped down from 226 to 196 so that they are in the perfect shape to start bulking for the Mr O !!!!

Also I do plan to take some shots and start a thread on my comeback as soon as my 2 weeks is up so I am clear for light lifting.

    Thanks to everyone,

    FFM
