Thread: Customs

    Customs

I was reading on another forum that February is the slowest month out of the year to ship things and customs hold onto many packages and don't let them process right away. Has anyone had the same experience?

Never heard of the month of February. My supplier has mentioned holiday seasons as being slower than the rest of the year.

Have any of you ordered overseas this month and just stuck in customs? I understand if it gets taken and I receive a letter but nope, nada, nothing so far.

Have it shipped with chocolate Easter eggs. If it was Feb you could have a nice pink bow. Ive heard De***ber is the best time due to all the extra packages.

It could have something to do with Chinese New Year. The entire manufacturing side of china shuts down for the better part of a month. Nothing ships out...then mid feb roles around, the facilies open back up and they start shipping thousands of containers and millions of items all at once. When all these containers and shipments start coming in all at once...customs really have their hands full! I used to deal with in quite a bit when I was selling a lot of china imports. Then I woke up and stopped dealing with the chinese.

De***ber seems slow due to the volume of goods but all the other months are fine. If its been stopped you will receive a letter. Just check your tracking number see where it is

Depending on where it's coming from it can take a while man. Have you verified that it was shipped?

If it has been shipped theres not much you can do other than wait it out. Hopefully it's your test that eventually arrives in the mail and not a letter from customs.

Wow. I've received three international packs since De***ber. Those were all from low risk points or origin though. That makes a difference regardless of what other may tell you.

I just received a package (it hadn't been opened) that was in NYC customs for 2 weeks. Sometimes it just takes longer.

    got a rook question..
If you're order is seized, will it update the tracking info to say that? or does the tracking info stay on "handed over to customs" n a letter just shows up?

  18. #18
No it just keeps on giving the update indefinitely that's it's in the process of clearing customs, at least in my experience.

I've got a package thats sitting in customs. It's been there since 22nd of feb. EMS shipping. seems like it should of cleared by now. No paper in the mail, any one else have to wait this long? Any insight? Tracking shows inbound into customs.

I run tracking at the ems post and it says "Record item customs information in Destination Country" anyone know what that means. I'm guessing that it's just been scanned and recorded? alot of posts I have read say that usps is good at not updating tracking info so I'm really hoping that this is the case.

I've been waiting since 10 Feb so I'm starting to get a bit worried. I've never waited this long for my gear unless it's been seized so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed!

I wanted to update. And get some advice if possible. I'm sharing my tracking info. It is now saying:

Your item is being processed by United States Customs. No further information is available for this item.... Which the other day it said information for this package is updated throughout the day!!!

    Detailed Results:

    Inbound Into Customs
Processed Through Sort Facility, February 25, 2012, xxx pm, ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS)
Processed Through Sort Facility, February 21, 2012, xxx pm, KARACHI, PAKISTAN
Processed Through Sort Facility, February 21, 2012, xxx pm, KARACHI, PAKISTAN.

Ok so there it is. I would like to know if anyone else here lately have been waiting as long as I have. And if anyone knows why the status changed about the updating of the item, let me know what you think. Thanks guys.

I have been waiting on 2 packages. One was shipped Feb 12 the other Feb 23 and usps tracking says

" We have received notice that the originating post is preparing to dispatch this mail piece"

    Any insight?

    Just a little update..

My package shipped via EMS is still sitting in customs.. was "handed over to customs" Feb 27..

It's amazing that something can be sent from the other side of the globe n arrive at US customs in 2 days.. but it takes customs weeks if not over a month to finally release it.

As long as it shows up I don't mind waiting, but we're approaching 3 weeks in customs.. startin to lose faith in it passing...

Well it's funny how slow the local mail can be when it's something like an insurance check. I have been dealing with AARP/Hartford insurance and 2x now they said they have sent a check and 2+ weeks later it has not make it only a few states away. They keep claiming it must have been lost or stolen. Yeah right. lol Last time (3rd time) it still took 2 weeks. I emailed them letting them know the pony express had arrived but apparently his horse had thrown a shoe and he had to walk 1/2 way.

I'm serious, that's what I told them. Pisses me off when someone lies to me. Tell me it will take 2 or 3 weeks, no problem but dont say it went out in the mail yesterday and it takes 2+ weeks to go a few states. BS

OH I got the check already, that's why I sent the response. I learned after the first time it had taken over 2 weeks to get one check and I called asking what happened. They put a stop payment on the check after I told them NOT to and give it another day or two. I got the check that day, cashed it and then a week later the funds were withdrawn due to them canceling the check, -$27,000. I had to wait over 3 weeks again to get the next one although I was told it was cut and sent out the next day. Yeah right.
