    Vitamin D deficiancy

So aside from low testosterone due to prolactinoma my endocrinologist says my Vitamin D deficiency is high. She says this is more then likely what's affecting my low energy levels. Has anybody else here had a similar story??? I was told to supplement my intake 2,000mg's/day and go from there.

My D was low and started taking a isoD3 supplement per the Dr. but did not notice having low energy.
Do what she said and see how you feel over the next few weeks.

That's what I was planning on. I am doing the trt Test E 300 once every 2 weeks for now but going to change to a little less every week because I spike and taper off middle of 2nd week. Hopefully the D and the combination of the weekly Test will make a difference (what they're planning to do until one final urine test). Thanks for the response. My Endo is kinda holistic sounding (and weird) but she's the one with the degree that my insurance covers so I go with it.

Take a look at this thread related to shbg and how Vit D plays a part in our testosterone levels:

    http://forums.steroid.com/showthread...-SHBG-from-LEF

I pulled part of it over below:

"Low Serum Levels of Vitamin D Associated with Reduced Testosterone Levels

In this month's Journal of Clinical Endocrinology, a cross-sectional study was done; researchers examined the relationship of vitamin D, testosterone, and SHBG, and levels were assessed in over 2,299 men. Remember, SHBG binds testosterone in blood, leaving less interaction with the androgen receptor. The researchers examined vitamin D levels and testosterone over the course of the year.

The researchers found that men with sufficient vitamin D levels had significantly higher levels of testosterone and free androgen index and significantly lower levels of SHBG, when compared to vitamin D-insufficient and vitamin D-deficient men.8 Vitamin D, testosterone, and free androgen index levels followed a similar seasonal pattern, with a drop in level at March and peak levels occurring in August.

In summary, low vitamin D levels were associated with reduced androgens levels in men. This notion is further supported by similar seasonal variations of vitamin D levels and serum androgen levels. Bodybuilders should be consuming oral vitamin D, as it has been found to have an impact on testosterone levels and some studies suggest may even improve performance.

It had been estimated that the body requires daily 3,000-5,000 IU of vitamin D.9 The most likely reason for this is that essentially every tissue and cell in the body has a vitamin D receptor and therefore has a requirement for vitamin D. Vitamin D is critically important for the maintenance of calcium metabolism and good skeletal health throughout life"

Mine also just came back low. Vette clued me in to "Drisdol" which is a prescription vit D which I'll get written for on Friday. It's 1.25mg which is 50,000 IU. Google it.

Good post Kelk!! Glad that you are giving Drisdol a try, I think you will like it. You might feel a little light headed the first time you take it, but that will fade. I'll run another lab here in a few weeks and see how effective it really is.

Thanks y'all esp kelkel. Right now I'm waiting for the call from my pharmacy to get my script picked up. Today I did take 2,000mgs of Vit.D but I realized I got sick at the gym tonight. One hour of cardio, Tri's, and in the middle of my barbell curls I grew sick to my stomache. My test shot was yesterday. Think the vitD initial dose might've caused the sudden sickness?

PS: Good article.....I did not know any of that. Endo phone convos are very short.

It is highly unlikely the 2,000 mgs of D3 caused stomach sickness. It is such a small amount that even if the oil had gone bad it wouldn't do anything to you.

Just about everyone here was low on vitamin D... coincidence? maybe but it certainly couldnt be helping out low T. There was a pretty decent thread about it a couple months ago.

Also, the prescription vitamin d is d2. It's typically dosed 1 time per week in a very high dose (for improved compliance). It has to be converted to d3, which is the stuff you can buy anywhere. 250 gel caps of 5k IU are around 10 dollars in walmart. That will last you months... so, if you are ok taking vitamin D every day then this is likely a better and almost certainly cheaper method than the Rx vitamin d2.

Looks like a good/safe thing to suggest to people who are looking for a natural testosterone booster.

I know I'm Vit D deficient, I live in WA state where it it rains 3+ months straight during the winter. We dont see the sun except on the rare occasion between October and May. lol

It's funny, I'm an exterminator and see plenty of sun.........I wonder if it is because of my diet. Might be time to revaluate it!

I've seen a few threads on this in the past. I take 50k iu's per week with a prescription. It's helped. Most people don't even get tested!! whether or not it's TRT related not sure but do feel better.
