    Prepping for 1RM Day

How should I go about doing this? Do you do your maxes for bench, on bench day and squat on squat day etc etc
I want to do 1rm for squat, bench, incline bench, deadlift and military press.
How many warm up sets do you do and what % of your targeted 1rm should you warm up with

I'm a raw bencher getting ready for the first meet of the season in April. Currently benching 370 at a bodyweight of 177lbs. (I'm 54 btw) You gotta save your energy for that max effort while getting your head and body ready for the stress of the lift. I start with light shoulder presses and tricep pushdowns for a few sets of 15-20 reps each. On to the bench, 135-10, 185-8, 225-5, 275-3,320-1 with plenty of rest between. then my max single. If it floats, then I'll add 5lb and try another. If I struggle but nail it. I'll quit there. Better to leave a winner IMO. Lots of carbs and caffeine before hand. Big arch, pinched shoulders and stay tight through the lift. Good luck to you.

Ive just started running 5/3/1 so you warm up then start with 5RM, 3RM then your 1RM

Im doing these for Bench, Squat and Deadlifts on chest day, leg day and back day (as recommended through my new powerlifting gym) First excercise of the day of course.
I was doing Mil ress as well on shoulder day but with a bad shoulder I can only go as low as 3 reps so I do 5/3 then a burn out of 10-12 light

personally i always do single rep warmups whether is a 5rep day 3 rep or singles, i may do 3-5reps on the bar and 1-2 with 100lbs then increments of 50lbs and a max of 1 rep per set over 100lbs, no need to do any more, as soon as i get a perfect from rep with the bar i feel i am good to go. I only do 100lbs and 50lbs increment to make my workout longer for entertainment.

i have done all maxes on different days and on the same day for comp prep, but i find doing all 3 can be difficult if i want more than 2 attempts on each
