why do i keep causing lower back pain that lingers when i do dead lifts

im aware that im causing this so i try to make sure my technique is good but i keep pulling, straining or spraining a muscle in the same spot on my lower back right above my glutes.

thats probably very vague but im not sure what info you would need from me to answer so im hoping maybe youre aware of some common mistakes people make doing dead lifts.

if you form is off then spend some time working on form and strengthen your core

either getting someone to show you how to do it or watch some videos on youtube (beware some youtubbers have no clue how to do it)

then lift really light, only do 5 rep sets (that you could 10 rep)
focus on perfect form, and slowly adding weight in over a couple months

It may not be your form. You can have an existing injury (compressed disk, etc.) that is aggravated by your lifting.

^^^^this is more than likely the culprit. It can be some swelling that happens.

Best thing to do is to go real light on the deads until fully recovered. For example, if you can do 135 for ten and it just seems way to light, but you can do a few sets....then do that until it is recovered.

The other thing can be overtraining. everytime I start over training my cns starts to give me warnings in my lower back. Old injuries start to hurt slightly and recurring. That is the red light for me to slow down and take it easy for a few weeks or to take a week off.

Gotta admit nearly had an argument about keeping straight legged deadlifts in my routine. I kept them in "because" of lower back pain. But my backpain tends to come when "not" working my lower back. Suppose it would depend on if you have an injury, muscular or "mechanical" pain like me. Mines caused from doing heavy lifting for five years then layed off altogether for ten. Lower back was like granite n I'm still trying to loosen it up n get my movement back. Self monitor n see why works. Try light n work up until u think your back tracking again I suppose.
