I consider myself a swimmer, but I do track as well. I haven't been doing track for the past couple months. Stats : 6' 2" 180 lb. after two weeks or var: 6' 2" 176 lb. Had a weird experience today in a meet. I swam a race( lasted roughly a minute) and this is what happened. I flew the first half, absolutely flew. went out faster than ever before by almost a full second( speed feels great right now), then my I tightened up the last half and was sooo full of lactate acid that I could barely have a decent finish. it was baad. 1/2 way through I was ahead of pace, then at 3/4, right on pace, then at the end:crashed and burned. So obviously it helps for anything under 30 seconds, but what should I do to be able to finish? should I cycle off? Or is there something I can take to supplement my endurance?
