Is there a big difference between palm in and alternate palm grip deadlifts?

Not sure physiologically, but I definitely know I can maintain my grip longer when using alternate grip. It probably comes down to preference and how you feel most comfortable.

My forearms/hands give out way quicker palm in. I do my warm up that way to work them and then switch to alt for heavy lifts

I was told by my lifting coach that you get up to 25% more grip strength with alternate grip. Funny I can only do it one way...

I always use alternate. I tried palm in and it was much harder. I don't feel like alternate grip takes away from the exercise that's why I keep using it

I feel alternate helps compensate for a failing grip in either hand. When one fails slightly I feel the weight is pushed more into the plam of the alternate hand allowing the bar to remain in a constant position. With palms both facing you the bar starts to come out of your grip while you lose it to the open space
