    Hydrolized Whey? WTF is it?

I was standing in line at Walgreens yesterday and took a pic of this stuff. I seen it before but never gave it a 2nd thought.

28g's of protein in this tiny thing? I didn't even google it yet, since here I will get a real answer on this stuff

It just means the protein has gone through hydrolysis, which is a technical term for the addition of a water molecule to a substance, and in this case, hydrolyzed protein would be broken down into it's respective constituent parts, amino acids; which may be more suitable for consumption in some individuals.

It's supposed to be super fast as part of the breakdown process has already been done for you (i.e. hydrolysis) BTW - it tastes like shit from my experience.

Agreed. Those protein shots taste horrific, like cough syrup. However, most whey supplements you buy are hydrolyzed, or partly at least (amino fortified).

If you want aminos straight up, I'd recommend a BCAA supplement, at least those you can find in a different flavors (although they can be just as unpalatable, imo).

I've never even tried the shots, I was referring to hydrolized protien powder!! Maybe it was just the brand I tried.. *shrug*

x2 for BCAA's. I use Purple Wraath or Xtend generally.

Hydrolysed protein will also cause a significant insulin spike when compared to whey concentrate per se.

Isn't this beneficial for post workout?

These things would be great in theory for extremely lean protein for right after a workout.

Producers claim hydrolysed protein to be the most tech-advanced and overall most beneficial form of protein supplement.

I am not sure if it is worth paying the extra $$$ for it, since most of us seem to be more than happy with a quality whey isolate.
