Help with Test Results

Hi everyone, I got my blood work done and my GP says I'm in "Normal" range. I got a copy of the tests and wonder if anyone could tell me if I could still be a candidate for HRT:

I'm a 48 year old male. 6'3" 240 lbs.

My Testosterone levels:
Total: 464 (Standard Range: 300-890 ng/dL)
Free: 74 (Standard Range: 47-244 pg/mL)

Althought I guess I am within the standard ranges, it looks like I'm on the lower end of normal. I wonder if I can expect an Endo Dr to prescribe to put me in the higher end of normal range.

Any thoughts would be greatly apprecaited.

post your entire blood work with ranges. i am assuming he checked your thyroid, LH, FSH, E2, etc...

I really doubt you will find an endo who will put you on TRT with those numbers. You might find one or urologist to put you on the gel, but I doubt I would mess around personally. Go to any wellness clinic that specializes in TRT and I guarentee they will put you on. Now you really got to ask yourself the question, do you really want to mess around with "mother nature" when you have solid levels??
You didnt state, are you displaying symptoms of Low T?? If so, u sure its not stress or something else?

Just remember, once you start TRT, you will be shutting yourself down and will most likely need it permanently. Think long and hard. Good luck

I'm at about 20-23% bf. The reason I'm pursuing this route is that I do have all the other symptoms. A few years ago I thought it was depression but the treatment plan for that didn't do much for me so I stopped taking it. With my levels being in the lower end of the "normal" of range I guess I'm not so sure now, I just wonder if I would benefit from supplementing my levels enough to put me in the higher end of the normal range. I tried to put my full lab report on here twice, it wouldn't go through for some reason. But yes, they did do the Thyroid.

Hey Jay, these guys are very good and willing to help but you gotta give them info. You need to post all the tests that they ran with ranges. I know it's alot to type but it will be worth it for the info that these guys can give you. Just make it simple, ie: (Total T 464--300/890 ng/dl). And list the symptoms that you had/have that make you believe that Low T is the cause.

Your TSH is elevated and may suggest Hypothyroidism. Many of the same symptoms of Hypogonadism are the same for Hypothyroidism.

With TSH at these level you need to see:

FT4
FT3
RT3
Anti Bodies

It may be why you feel like you do and you need to see these panels. Most Docs are not aware of the new TSH reference ranges and would look at 3.84 and say normal and it's not...says your Thyroid is working hard.

Did you get your Estradiol (E2) tested?

At your age both of these are pretty normal and as noted most traditional Doc's would not put you on a TRT protocol even if they knew how. As noted, most Anti Aging clinics would put you on a TRT protocol and get you optimized and you would reap all the healthy benefits of that...and for the rest of your long and healthy life!

If you can afford it seek out a reputable AA clinic and see what they can do for you and your Thyroid (these clinics are good at that as well).

Thanks, I tried to post the full lab results but I got a note saying it will visible after a moderator has approved it for posting. I don't know about the E2 test, I guess they didn't, but I put everything that was on the report in my post. What's the treatment for Hypothyroidism?

Usually drugs depending upon the diagnosis.
