Lifting through joint pain is never a good idea..... A few years back I used to get very sore forearms when preacher curling, did some reading and it was refered to as forearm splints, small hairline cracks in the forearm or something I didn't touch preacher and mainly stuck to hammer curls for about 6 months or more, have never had that problem again, seems to be very common with new lifters, my wrists hurt when I'm on a high ai dose or have trained to often with limited rest, it's the first thing to let me know to have a couple of days off and stick to hammer variants for a couple of weeks.
When I used to get those forearm problems my hands would stay wrapped around the bar too and I'd have to sometimes use the other hand to pull it away
