    Workout for beginner?

Just spent 15 minutes trying to make this account...image verification codes are just ridiculous these days.

Anyways...this is my first post on this website. I am 18, 5'10", and currently weigh 154 pounds with my abs starting to show for the first time. I started at 120 pounds (yes I know, it is painful to look back at the pictures) but somehow was able to gain 45 pounds without really knowing what the heck I was doing. Have been spending the past few months cutting down. Was just using one of those splits where I was probably doing way too much...but I guess I can't be angry with the gains I got.

Now I know that my age and weight is no where near where it should be if I were to run a cycle...and I don't plan on running one till my twenties. So don't rage at me. However, it does seem that a lot of the people on this forum really know what they are talking about, so I hope that no one minds me trying to leech some solid advice. I really want to make a run to get over 180 pounds...maybe more if bodyfat levels are staying somewhat reasonable. I have spent the past few months reading the forums, and I think I have a solid understanding on what to do as far nutrition goes. My question comes in the training aspect. Can someone suggest a routine that would be a potential fit for me? I am at just total loss if I should run a split or more of a power lifting style workout to start gaining. I am purely interested in the aesthetic portion of lifting...I could care less about the numbers I am putting up. But many seem to say it is better to get strong before you start higher volume. I guess I see arguments for both types of training, so just trying to get some additional opinions.

    Thanks for your time

    chest n tris
    legs
    break
    back n bi's
    shoulders traps
    break
    repeat

very good beginner workout split, stick to mainly compound movements for awhile
not sure what your goals are now? lean out more? lean bulk?
should visit the nutrition section of the forums diet is 80% of the fight.
as for cardio do about 20-30 mins after every weightlifting session and 30 minutes fasted cardio on break days

    No shoulders?

And current goal would be a lean bulk to at least 180...and yes I have spent awhile reading the nutrition forums and have a much better understanding of what to eat and what my macro break down should be this time around. Unfortunately I need to eat somewhere around 4,000 calories a day to gain weight which isn't the easiest thing to do at my weight...but I'll find the time. Think I am going to try to keep it to 40% carbs, 35% protein, 25% fat. I'd up the protein but it would already be over 300g lol so will see how that goes and adjust from there.

Question was just mainly on the training aspect as some say a split is more successful while others suggest something more along the lines of a 5x5 program...was just trying to figure out what would be best for me.

Hi brah, so for a beginner to training with some experience under your belt which sounds like you have a few months right.. i would take it easy at first and get the basic skill and strength incorporated in your training.. i would do like 2 exercises for each muscle group and hit it with 3 sets of 10 repetitions...
    chest/shoulders/tris
    legs/abs
    back/bis/abs
You wanna bulk up right so, cardio is whenever you feel like.. when im bulkin i do cardio once a week... if that.. but if im getting too fat just cut down carbs...
after doing this training for a month maybe add another exercise to each muscle group and change stuff around.. then do 4 sets of 10 repetitions.. hope this helps!!

Yeah I have been going for 6 months but not sure how much of that was valid considering I was going 5 days a week and doing a billion exercises. Will give something like that a try since it seems similar to what bobjack said.
