Crossfit - My experience - Yours?

I tried my first Crossfit workout tonight and now realize no part of my body if fatigued and I don't have that "spent" feeling I do after I lift. I know part of the problem is there were too many people there (recruitment "bring a friend for free" day) so there was too much rest between cycles.

The exercises were just strange. 400m run and some lunges/stretches to warm up. Then a cycle of three exercises: rowing on a machine, jumping over a pipe laterally while holding a weighted ball and then throwing the weighted ball up a wall from a squat.

I wish I could have asked some questions about the goals. It wasn't a whole body workout really. The invited me back (of course they did) and explained that the next few nights have different routines. I got the impression they do some strength training too that is based on Olympic lifts.

Anyone else doing it? Anyone loving it?

It seams like I might want to go back when I am cutting.

Normally the "Bring a friend days" at a Crossfit gym aren't exactly what the facility does on a regular basis. Each Crossfit gym is different depending on the Coach writing out the programming. I have been working out for over 8 years now and done a variation of pretty much every type of lifting. I enjoy the overall fitness I get from Crossfit. Our programming is good b/c my coach really enjoys Olympic lifting and building Strength. A normal day would be about a 10 min. dynamic warm-up. A single strength lift (deadlift, clean, clean and jerk, press, front squat, back squat, etc.) for 20-40 min. Then the WOD(work out of the day) This is normally the endurance/cardio vascular portion of the workout, however it could be more based on building strength also. I enjoy it a lot! I personally have changed my diet to cut down bf%. My friend started around the same time and his diet has allowed him to gain weight without an increase in bf%. We have both increased our strength gains each and every time we do 1RM, 2RM, and 3RM exercises. I have went from a soft 215 to a solid 194 in a little over 3 months. Unlike some of the other post that I have read I am not "getting skinny." I feel that for people who can easily gain size and strenght but have a harder time cutting down the additon of crossfit to their training program is a great idea. I have some gear laying around and I have been thinking about doing a cycle while crossfitting to see the results. I am however scared that I will have back pumps during some of the metcons/WODS that are higher repetitions of heavier weight and multiple sets of moderate KB swings / Deadlifts and calf/shin splints during box jumps/running wods/metcons. Also the gear I have is a Test-P/Tren-E blend and Im a little afraid of the Tren-E affecting my cardio however it did not affect me in an earlier cycle. Good luck.

P.S. - I still incorporate some movements outside of cross fit into my training regiment.
