    steroids and cancer cell production

I was wondering if using testosterone and other AAS would speed up cell production?

Lets say someone has a melanoma on their skin, not knowing that its cancerous, would using AAS possibly make it worse, or speed up its growth? Or would this happen more from using growth hormone?

The reason why I'm asking is, in 2007 I lost my dad to skin cancer, so I am more prone then others, so now that I've been cycling testosterone and now added diananbol to the start of my current cycle, I'm little uneasy about it, being summer and all!
I'm usually very cautious about my moles and protecting my skin, but I am a welder and I'm in the direct sun all day sometimes.
Anyone with any insite on this subject please share your thoughts.
    Thanks

    DD

It was so vague, just brought up a bunch of links that ended up going nowhere, so I figured someone here might have some scientific input!

You need to understand that we all have cancerous cells inside our bodies at all times. What keeps them in check is your immune system. Your white blood cells patrol your body and if/when they come across suspicious cells that are dividing at an uncontrollable rate, your white blood cells then consume and destroy those cancerous cells. Whether or not you end up with full-blown cancer for the most part depends on the following factors:

    - Your immune system is compromised and therefore cannot maintain control of cancerous cells. Cell division therefore spirals out of control.
    - Something (a chemical, radiation, foreign body, infection, etc.) is causing cell division to occur so rapidly that it outpaces the body's immune system's ability to be able to control the numbers of cancer cells.
    - Both of the above.

Anyhow, anabolic steroids have not been shown in any cases to aggrivate any cancers (with the exception of prostate cancer, but this operates through several completely different pathways), and definitely nothing to do with melanoma and skin cancers. Anabolic steroids are hormones that have specific actions in specific target tissues and cells. They won't cause cell growth randomly in other areas of the body that they do not have growth-promoting effects on. And in those target tissues that they do (muscle tissue), they signal growth in a very specific manner.

In short, you have nothing to worry about.

Unless you are taking HGH. From what I understand cancer and HGH don't mix...

I thought I'd heard steroids do make existing cancers grow quicker. I'm not saying they do, I'm just saying I've heard that before. Is that truth or propoganda? Furthermore, what about "precancer". Not to hijack his thread (I'd call it related) I got something called actinic keratosis, which is essentially precancerous sun damage that has about a 10% chance of becoming skin cancer. Would steroids cause this to grow and spread as well, if steroids do this at all?

well, I can speak to the stanard medical treatment for prostate cancer is they (can't remember the name of the drug) but it stops all test production in the body for about 6 months.. and if cancer was in the cards i would never do anything that would mess with my gh..

This is true. Though HGH will not give you cancer, nor will it create cancer out of nowhere... if you have existing cancerous tumors, HGH will definitely speed up and exacerbate the cancerous process. This is something you definitely do not want.

get yourself checked before using hgh, last summer i was on hgh and it made my nose bleed profusely not knowing i have a tumor on one of my sinuses. had it checked good thing the damn thing was benign. never touched hgh again. (true story )

I'm glad this subject come up I myself have been through the trauma of skin cancer luckily the doctors took it all out and I got the all clear long time before I started AAS use.
What I would like to say is I watched a programme other day called Horizon and in it explained that PROTEIN consumption increases the speed a body will grow and AGE. The increase in aging of the body led to bad cholesterol levels, wrinkles in skin and the possibilities tgat come with old age.
The guy in the programme tested himself and underwent an experiment were he reduced his protein intake and went through Intermittent Fasting, long story a bit shorter results in IF good protein bad.
Sorry for the high jack but this these topics need to be discussed. Peace

Dont know about skin cancer but i have just been diagnosed with prostate cancer.I am on a ADT therapy now to reduce the size and slow the growth of the cancer untill i get it radiated in a couple of months. Androgen will speed up the growth of cancer, even though it might not really cause it, at least in this case. I would have any suspisious spots checked first.
