I don't want insurance involved so I was wondering if anyone self medicates high BP?

Yes but accessibility isn't an issue for me. In most cases you will require a script from your physician. There are several different meds available and each vary on the efficacy and associated adverse effects. Everyone responds differently so what works for someone else may be less effective for you.Originally Posted by poppz

Do you take hawthorn berry extract? Did WONDERS for my bp. I love the stuff. I take 1200mg a day
You don't need to go through insurance. Just tell them you're gonna pay out of pocket. At least seem doc until you find the right type of meds that work for you. There are tons and most take some time to kick in.
all you need is some mild BP meds and a BP machine.
what else do you need?
poppz, before you try any sort of medication, try cutting your salt intake. Believe it or not, something simple like cutting your salt and changing your diet can make drastic differences.
If you don't got insurance, going to an urgent care clinic will set you back $50 and then you can tell the doctor there that you need medication that you can get for $4 at Walmart.
Keeping BP in check is simple and the meds are not thet exspensive when compared to a stroke
I've been on BP meds for years runs in the family. Cant grasp the reason to not involve insurance, then why would you even have it?
The thing with genetic illnesses like high blood pressure is that they are (for the most part) here to stay. Whereas, a cold or flu is going to go away, high blood pressure will likely need to be regulated your whole life.
It's like having a speeding ticket on your record vs. having a DUI.
Your insurance company can raise your rates down the line, and if you change insurance companies, you will be charged higher rates to begin with.
Because lots of guys have high bp on cycle and normal while off. If a doc monitors regularly like he should then eventually he'll request more bloodwork and figure out what's going on. Imo it's pretty stupid to have a doc recording your steroid use or your complications and health issues from your steroid use in your permenant medical history.
^^^Yeah if you can find a doc like that then that's great, but I haven't found one I've felt comfortable bringing it up to at all....which is why I guess I haven't been to the dr in years lol. I guess I'm one of those "internet dr's" that self medicates as necessary so I'm sure I'll keel over dead by the time I'm 40.![]()
