    Egg vs Whey protein powder

I saw some egg protein powder at Dillons. Was wondering what you guys thought of egg protein powder. Compared to whey?

Also, do you guys think expensive casein protein is any better than a cup of cottage cheese at night?

think its 6 -1 and half a doozen to the other (vertually the same) i use both, (i'm currently carb cyling) on carb days i have cot cheese and on no carb days casein shake. sometimes on carb days if im a bit sick of food ill swap the cot cheese for casein shake as cot cheese can sometimes be endless eating it.

I use to do a ton of powder egg protein. I switched to liquid egg whites since it's pretty much the same and I don't need to use other liquid.

Liquid egg whites are pretty darn expensive though aren't they? I think I remember something like 6-7 bucks for a carton? Might be wrong...

I get mine at Sam's Club for 5 bucks for 4 little cartons. Each carton is 2 servings. Pretty cheap I say, comes out to like 75 cents a serving of 25g's of protein.

About a full carton a day. Tastes like nothing. . . . I didn't come up with this either.

I asked the same exact thing when I seen people on here saying they down a ton of raw egg whites.

Just make sure they're pasteurized bro...

  15. #15
Do you mix them with anything? Maybe milk? What about just drinking whole eggs? I think I would puke. I about vomit when I eat cottage cheese. Seriously I actually did once. Its the texture that gets me.

One out of 10,000 eggs has salmonella I believe. If you eat a lot of eggs like I do, the chances are high.

I wish I could stomach this crap straight. No, I mix them with whey or weight gainer. The ones in the carton are pasteurized.

every morning and afternoon i have a shake with a cup or so of egg whites, 1/2 cup of oats, scoop of protein powder and if there is any space add water and blend it. It's great and you can't taste the eggs and I've never been sick. Just tastes like you added milk. In australia they sell frozen egg whites at coles (blue packet with a picture of a guy dumbell curling). Never checked the price although they never seem that expensive.

hand full of nuts and a schoop of whey in water does me well for night time.

I dont think its all that worth it. i used to bother with fast , slow and combo proteins (combos dont work like they try to sell it) the slow , slows the fast protein also, so you end up with what ? medium release?

I use mostly whey, soy, hemp protein now and BCAAs 4/1/1 ratio

carbs are worse for fat gain than fat.
you dont get fat because you eat fat, its from toomany calories and/OR spikes in sugar (carbs)

I am not saying eating 8 eggs a day is good for you though.
i dont eat eggs at all so

for me its 2 scoops of whey, 1-2 oz of EVOO (olive oil) and a scoop of oats (or a cookie hehehe)
if i have time ill just make a bomb ass smoothing full of whey, oats, PB, banana etc. its the best for bulking or.... w/e its the best
I do it even when cutting, just cut carbs a little bit and over all calories.

Yea, the sure fire way to gain body fat is to combine fat (high calorie to gram ratio) with insulin spiking simple carbs- thus we have the obesity epidemic. No where in nature do you see fat and carbohydrates combined like we combine them artificially in foods.

Casein shakes are from calcium. Your body takes a while to break down the calcium caseinate hence the slow digestion. Whey is the watery stuff left over when cheese is forming, same when a yoghurt separates and you get a water type substance in the pot, that's whey.
So cottage cheese and casein shakes are pretty much the sake thing. I use both cot cheese
and casein shakes but more for variety.

We'll put digsy. Though I suggest you look for micellar casein rather than a calcium caseinate!

    hey stem,
is it just the fact the miscellar casein is 'un-denatured' (had to look that word up!!) making the micellar casein more bioavailable than the manufactured calcium caseinate, or is there more to it?

great recomendation tho!! everyday's a school day!

That's pretty much it mate. Plus I always find calcium versions are very chalky in texture. In reality, I eat red meat in my last meal nearly every day which, for me, beats casein or cottage cheese hands down!

Of course, 250-300 grams of protein from meat a day can be a hassle.
