So I am still in the process of establishing where I am with my hormone levels and have not been prescribed anything yet but here's what I have going on so far... I am 26 and since I was twenty I have felt like shit... very low libido(it's ruined relationships in the past and puts pressure on my marriage), lack of progress in the gym, chest, belly fat and love handles when I try and do any type of bulking. I am spot on with my training (I am a strength coach and I am spot on with everything there) I am spot on with my nutrition (I am a nutritionist). I always wondered if I was low T but never had it in me to just go and see. Was getting on my wifes insurance and we were going to get a deal if I got set up with a primary care and got general blood work done. While meeting with the doctor I mentioned I wanted my testosterone levels checked, told him my symptoms and he added it. Turns out I had a level of 156 ng/dl... shit. SO, now I am going in again tomorrow for another test looking again at total test as well as prolactin to make sure if it's something going on with my pituitary. While he ordered these follow up tests he told me my options and I made it clear I wanted to go the route of injection if I do in fact need this therapy. He said very briefly what that might consist of, no specific dosage just a dosage frequency of going to the office once every 3 weeks. Now, I know a thing or to about this stuff and I was a little nervous at what he was proposing. I wasn't being prescribed anything yet so I didn't want to get into it with him. Although I did ask about self injection and what the chances of that happening are... basically he said he doesn't do that with his practice b/c of concerns that he doesn't want to deal with.
I am a bit nervous here... when he gets my new results back and more than likely puts me on this therapy what am I to do if he says he's going to dose XXXmg every 3 weeks? How should I go about asking for more frequent dosing without coming off as the know it all patient. And if he doesn't budge then what? Do I get the shot and in the mean time look for a new doctor or do I skip the shot and look for a new doctor? I guess I just need some advice here so I am prepared. As a 26 year old. this is a long road ahead of me and I want to be prepared so I am taken care of properly.
