I have been noticing more and more people wearing long sleeves and sweaters at the gym. WHY? Is there a benefit?

Getting close to winter.
I wear an Under Armour long sleeve sometimes. For me it just depends on what's dirty at the time..lol
I wear long sleeves when its cold out. Once I get hot, I take it off. So for a short while Im working out with long sleeves.
I see guys where hoodies while running on the treadmill or on the elliptical. Some even where it while lifting. I dont think its being cold outside thing. Its been like this for months
either
want to sweat more
dont wanna see what they body look like in the mirror while w/o
dont want anyone else to^
you ruled out that they r cold so it cant be that
thats the only time i wear sweats
then again i see ppl wearing wool hats in the summer in florida
^ Probably trying to sweat more.
I will wear a sweatshirt or long sleeves while doing cardio for sweating more. I sometimes wear them while working legs as well. I prefer not to when working upper body as I feel it restricts my range of motion
Gear makes me soak my clothes before I get to the gym. I'd be dehydrated working out in long sleeves!
I wear whats clean and I'm terrible about doing laundry regularly, so long sleeved shirts rotate in from time to time.
Long sleeves cover up skinny arms
NO SOURCES GIVEN
I wear under armour long sleeve tops and the cold gear leggings along with a t shirt hoody fleece hat and jogging bottoms to do cardio to make me sweat.
But then again I'm trying to loose a load of weight
Some people see a person in a mag they got and think its cool.
be like balboa
Thermogenesis.
As a wrester for 17 plus years it was really common for us to workout/run in long sleeves and sweats sometimes even trash bags or rubber suites. We did it then as it made it possible to cut 10,12, even 15 pounds in a matter at hours. To make weight. All though it was nothing but water. It could just be these people are weighing just before and just after thinking they are losing phenomenal amounts of weight. (then probabaly trying to figure out while the can't so much as walk without cramping the rest of the day.)
Surprised that no one touched on this yet, but a lot of body builders wear long sleeves to trap more heat in around their joints (ex. elbows). Especially those that suffer from tendonitis!
Its getting colder out SO I wear a light wind breaker and sweat pants to the gym, but once I get there I take all these off to a t-shirt and my shorts with spandex shorts underneath those(my legs rub together).
I think some ppl wear hoodies so they don't have to get distracted why working out, long sleeves? they are trying to hide something, I know some guys wear that shit year round, because they are always 20+ BF ..I could never wear that shit...my t-shirt always getts soaked...but I work out harder than most...they will be 12 guys around me and no one is sweating? taking 5 min inbetween sets...what ever floats your boat.
the pro's at my gym all wear 3/4 long sleeved shirts and usally have a sweater or zip up hoodie always on. i think it has to do with body image, they dont want people to view them when they bulk or they are cool guys not trying to being 300lb impossing monkeys. regardless i dress like swifto's avi so i can look big and scary and get all the babes.
I wear a hoodie every time I work out. I want to be completely focused on my training, not looking at myself in the mirror.
I see some huge jacked ppl wearing sweaters my first thought was hiding tons of acne and stretch marks
I have a couple long sleeve, really loose fitting thermal shirts i wear w/nike warm up pants i wear all the time to keep me warm and loose. Sometimes it gets too hot and i'll take it off and have a v-neck t on, but that's rare. There's been many times that i've went to the gym and it was freezing. I workout better when i'm warm. So i don't take any chances on it anymore.
I love wearing a hoodie, but for me its to provide a feeling of seclusion. I lift at fitness first and and there are so few serious lifters, that my old ass acutally stands out. When lifting with a hoodie I feel in my own world instead of being aware that others are looking at me lift, unfortunatly for me its way too hot for this as I would bake. I don't like the long sleeves but do love the feeling of either working out in Underarmour (with a loose teashirt overtop) for leggs, chest and biceps/triceps. However on back day/shoulder day I like to wear a wife beater to allow greater freedom of movement on lat pulldowns and widegrip pullups.
Kai Greene wears a hoodie all the time because of it's absorbency of sweat. That's another reason I wear a hoodie.
So they don't look like the 150 pound dbags that roll in a wife beater lol. At least that's my reason.
I wear a hoodie to keep myself warmed up but take it off (down to a tank usually - see avatar) if I get too hot. It doesn't take long for the sweat to start making me cold so the hoodie goes back on.
I have to have something to holster these guns! Lol I wear a sweatshirt warming up but I usually get hot real fast and ditch it.
I always rock hoodie + sweats to the gym (even in the summer)
For me it is just a personal preference thing, I feel more comfortable working out in full sweats then in tank/shorts. Also it certainly helps me sweat a lot more!
Sometime would wear long sleeves in winter, but now Im in Fla so there does not seem to be a winter. Cant rock the wife beater either tho. Maybe once I hit 200lbs at sub12%bf which at this rate will be a while.
Everybody wants to be Kai Greene.
stress tendons love warmth and heat , so peopel training with strains and injury can do so with less discomfort when staying warm. IE: hoodie
