I prefer buying whey. Optimum Nutrition or Body tech from vitamin shoppe as both of these are cheaper and taste pretty good. The only time I use protein powder is post workout and the occasional scoop in my morning shake. The rest of the day, whole foods make up my protein sources
Ok sounds good. I need something for at work when i cant eat...
thanks
Whats the difference with Whey and SOy?
Optimum Nutrition and BSN are good imo.
Tdogg - you ever take liquid creatine?
oh wow - good to know! thanks!
gotcha - thanks
The protein shakes are dependant on your diet/goals and dedication. If you're dedicated to following your diet plan shakes could be completely disregarded, although I still do have a shake virtually everyday just to keep a bit of variety.
I go for a low carb, low fat, high protein mixture. This way I get all my carbs from food and I get the pleasure of eating them. One of my mate he still eats the same food (4 meals a day) and uses mass gainer shakes a few times a day to bulk up. End of the day, it's your own perspective and everyone's different.
I'm with Digsy on this one. My Whey is low fat and low carb. So it's just a protein source, near enough.
I tend to use MyProtein, a variety of flavours, good pricing and good delivery.
I would suggest stating away from the brands that claim to have glutamine and BCAAs in, I've have found that these are overpriced usually. It's cheaper to buy your products separately. This way you can also change the doses.

when you start taking in multiple scoops of protein powder per day, at some point, your body will find it difficult to metabolize all of it without producing foul smelling gas. to minimize this, i only use whey isolate. i think it's the most expensive, but surprisingly, i get it for about $7.50/lb if i order ten pounds or more. and sometimes, a digestive enzyme will also help with the foul smelling gas.....
I only use SEI Max protein. I was fortunate enough to talk a sales rep into letting me get it wholesale years ago. Best tasting and mixes so clean with water. Not clumpy and NO whey aftertaste!
Protein as a whole skyrocketed a few years ago due to evey damn beverge Co. adding protein to the sports drinks and such!
