    secure email....need help

    Hey guys,

what can I use as an actually secure email service? VPN has my ass covered, but i'd like the extra security.

Hushmail apparently is no longer safe.

No such thing via the net. Anyone advertising is BS

I built my own mail server. My home is physically secured with both a video and active electronic security system. I also have two very large german shepherds that don't take too kindly to strangers.

As for online security, I have no worries. I'm a technology consultant/field technician with specialties in network and infrastructure security.

    Secure email is possible.

My email server only allows SSL/TLS connections and is physically secured. My password policies are such that brute forcing a password would not happen in yours or your great great great great grandchildren's lifetimes.

Of course, your personal email is only as secure as the devices you use to access it so keep those protected with strong passwords, don't leave them unattended when logged in, and don't tell your email application to save your password.

There is more but those are the essentials for now.

countermail is a good provider. I use them and have had no issues whatsoever. However they are not free.

I know this is a little old but hidemyass.com is pretty good if you don't need it to be permanent email address. They also offer VPN's and proxies.

it depends what youre doing, if youre involved with highly illegal activities (10+years jail time) then you really need to make sure your VPN is legit as most will share your ip with authorities when asked. also hidemyass does very little and its easy for LE to get around that

it doesnt matter what email you use, you can use gmail just download pgp software and send encrypted emails to whomever you wish to talk to once you have eachothers key its safe as anything

you could even double up and use safemail(which encrypts) but then also send encrypted emails within safemail as added security

you gotta ask yourself if you really need to bother though
