What's with Russians having dash cams? I noticed the airliner crash a few months ago was caught on a dashcam and just last week there is footage of the asteroid. It seems like a high % of them must have cameras rolling in order to catch events like those.

More and more divers and using them here also. I have though about getting something like that for many years for theft protection if nothing else. Keep the storage in a locked strong box bolted to the frame.

They have them for other reasons in russia, lots of corruption also protects u in an accident

They are getting pretty cheap also. It might be time to buy as long as I can also remote store the video easily.

My daily driver is a motorcycle, I wouldn't mind getting a GoPro or something just for evidence in the event one of the cagers finally kills me.

You can always get an inexpensive helmet cam. I have them for when I go quad riding. BTW, I just purchased 4 of the above came. The ones that do front and back view were 3x a s much so it made more sense to just get 4 so they are in the 2 main daily drivers.

Yeah, dash cams are pretty common in Russia. It's to protect against insurance fraud/scams, it's pretty prevalent down there.

Example: Car A is driving ahead of Car B. Car A stops his car and backs up and crashes into Car B. Car B gets blamed for crashing into Car A, etc. <-- I've seen that a lot on youtube from dash cam footage.
I think a lot of their cars come equipped with dash cams. They are pretty cheap to get now.

I've also read that some police will pull you over when you did nothing wrong and will try and get you to bribe them so they will leave.

Yeah and I checked some YouTube videos and the quality is great too...this one has two cameras but probably cheaper quality then the one above.

Yeah I saw that one but many people complain the gps stops working. I decided to get the cheaper ones since I could get 4 for the same price as one and it has over 200 reviews most are good.
