    Need sound advice

    Hey there,

I'm an obese meal who just recently joined a gym. I haven't worked out in years so I know I need to be taking things slow. But as far of supplements go, should I start taking them right away or wait a bit? If I should be taking them right away, could someone please tell me what it is I should be taking and what to stay away from? My particulars are 5'9-5'10" and weigh approximately 260-270lbs.

I'm not a huge fan of supplements, but you shouldn't worry about it at this point. You should try and make up all your daily needs through food. You should get your diet in check before worrying about supplements. Check out some of the stickies in the nutrition section there's lots of good info
    Best of luck!

I would just start with a good multi-vitaimin and 100% WHEY. GNC is a great place to get both of these. This is more then enough to start off with.

The one supplement I would recommend for you is 1000iu of Vitamin E before your workouts. Studies show that a dose of that size will reduce or eliminate your post-workout soreness.

Also, if you can't afford a really good quality multivitamin, I'd look into whole food juices/juicing and green smoothies rather than spend money on a low dollar and likely low dollar multivitamin.

    GNC is incredibly over priced.

^^ Start here. And while you're in the nutrition forum, research how to calculate your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure). Once you have that number, which will be maintenance calorie needs, deduct ~ 500 calories from that figure. Your macro needs should start out in the 40/40/20 set up (40% of calories from protein, 40 from complex carbs, 20 from fat). These numbers will of course be flexible but will give you a spring board from which to start. Lastly, be patient and hang in there!! You didn't get this way overnight and your solution will not be an overnight occurrence so just keep your head down, stiffen that upper lip and go for it bro! You deserve no less!!
