what's your opinion on all over body workouts?

Not very fashionable at the moment in bodybuilding, do any of you do all over body power workouts? Any opinions for or against?

Great for beginners since they need to learn motor skills and multiple sessions a week helps with this...

There is plenty of data out there that suggests a higher training frequency may be optimal....

However full body is too much for me....

    I'm currently doing

chest delts and tris twice a week

Back traps and bis twice a week

    And legs once a week

I'd maybe lean towards an upper/lower or a push/pull vs a full body routine

For someone just starting to go to the gym, this is a good method. Using mostly compound exercises, you get a complete workout for the whole body.

But as the body get stronger and more conditioned for training, this method doesnt work anymore. Typically more exercises and more sets are needed to properly train each muscle group. Just going by the time factor, its not very practical to spend that much time in the gym. There are other factors too.

Try it and see for yourself what progress you make, for me personally I would go backwards. I train HIT and train my whole body once per week but with very heavy short intense training sessions, this builds thick dense muscles like nothing ive ever experienced in any other training method but we are all made different so try it and see but I would say its over kill, way to over kill IMHO.

The reason I ask is,Im following Lyle McDonalds ultimate diet 2.0. He has set the diet up around 4 all over body workouts, high rep beginning of the week (on glycogen depletion days) powerlifting at the end of the week (on over feeding carb days) he claims all over body workouts promote more of a growth response for the natural bodybuilder.
I have been following his protocol for 2 and a half weeks now, I am losing bodyfat as well as gaining LBM, it's good shit, very tough routine though, takes alot of displain to follow.
Before this I was following a similar routine to you guys.
I've got another 4 to 6 weeks on this routine. I will report back my findings/results, with maybe before and after photos.

    Thanks for the replies

Yeah I enjoy it too, can suck on my depletion days though, tho all training sucks when depleted
