    How many use protein powder

How many of you use protein powder and how many don't? Did it hurt your gains when you stopped using it?

I'm trying to figure out if it would be better to use protein powder or the other stuff I wanna use on my list. I've always bought protein powder but recently I just don't have the money. So i'm trying to weigh it out.

Nothing replaces a proper diet - you know that.

I drink one shake a day - first thing in the morning after fasted cardio. On work out days I drink a second shake immediately after a workout.

I used to drink 4-5 shakes a day. Then I got smart.

It was believed that cardio on empty stomach burns fat, but in reality it burns muscle for fuel than anything. Bad idea

You are partially correct - if you're not running gear or anything that inhibits catabolism!

I've been doing it for a month or more now. Only weight loss is unwanted fat. Strength has been increasing - although very slowly due to carb deficits. I'm running a cutting cycle to prep for an upcoming bulk cycle.

BCAA's also help preserve muscle when taken prior to doing cardio.

Correct - I consume about 4L a day. There are many ways to inhibit catabolic activity. One doesn't need to lose muscle mass if done correctly.

I generally take 2 a day. I've been doing pretty well to keep it to just one PWO.

Depends on my work schedule but I normally have them. To maintain my size I do have to use them if time is an issues or I'm delayed at work for some reason.

I have always had 1 shake only, post workout.

2 scoops (50gr) of 100% whey isolate, water, 5-6gr of Micronized Creatine Monohydrate and a teaspoon of powdered cinnamon does it for me.

As for your question, it did slow down my gains at times when I stopped drinking shakes. In my experience a good shake certainly helps with obtaining the ''edge'' while lifting regularly, this is possibly due to the fact that a decent whey protein consists of many amino acids that have high biological value.

The rumor that cardio can enlarge your heart while on AAS, is it true or only by duing high intensity large amounts of cardio?

I use it daily, it really helps me get my protein needs in with a hectic schedule.

if money is a problem, then your better off spending it on more food

I'm surprised by some of the responses. I down a whey protein shake 4x a day but at the same time i'm still taking in a ton of food. I usually drink my shakes with my meals or in between.

I'll often drink between meals but haven't been consistent lately. I didn't notice much difference after stopping.

    Something wrong here.

You are either not really eating a ton of food or not drinking 4 shakes a day. What are your stats anyway?

I don't know a single pro who actually drinks 4 shakes a day, at least not during off season.
