    Hiit after leg day

So I plan on Doin hiit cardio 2-3 days a week. But it will eventually (today) be the day after leg day. I did my normal steady 45min cardio this am cause my legs/glutes are sore as hell.

What's everyone's opinion on Doin hiit while you're legs are still recovering? I don't mean to beat a dead horse about overtraining but it seems if I go hard on hiit its going to hinder my leg recovery.

I wouldn't do it..... I treat lower body HIIT like a real leg training session and allow days before and after for recovery

Remember Luca, HIIT is High Intensity Interval Training... Nothing there states you have to run... Do an elliptical at a fast pace for 5 minutes, do push ups or ab work for 5 minutes rest for a few minutes and repeat or something along those lines... You don't necessarily have to run on every hit day... Push ups and sit ups can be part of a HIIT workout as well... Just an option you can look at...

What you just described is NOT HIIT.....

Agreed, that is just some variant of interval training.

I just did legs this morning and finished up with HIIT. I do mellow my HIIT to a shorter session on leg days, but still hit it hard. Total time with warm up and cool down was 15 mins, eliptical 2 minute at a normal pace, one minute with resistance almost as high as it will go as fast as I can, back to 2 minute normal pace resistance set a little bellow half. Running HIIT is just too hard on the knees. Finished three rounds of that and had a puddle of sweat under the machine when I was done. Warm up one minute at the lowest setting on each end of the workout

Well thats not the best example of HIIT but HIIT is nothing more than alternating between very intense exercise and low intensity exercise around a 3:1-4:1 ratio... I'm just simply pointing out the fact that you dont need to do sprints for HIIT, thats all.
