    Best feeling

One of the best feelings in life, is to give back life. Last year i went to donate blood, didnt know my blood type, didnt know the whole procedure of what i was doing, made sure i could still donate blood since im a cruiser there were no problems there. All i knew was when i broke up with my ex last year, to make myself feel better i seen an television AD on and thought yes im going to do it, why not?

Anyway long story cut short my blood type is 0 negative meaning my blood can go to ANYONE, and there is only about 9% of Australian with this blood type, i saved 3 lives. Words could not express the way i felt when i read the letter, there asking for another donation, tbh they are hounding me they are calling my mobile, sending me mail, with work atm its difficult to get around i will be sure to get in there again, its the least i can do since im no saint ha.

Yeah I've given blood a number of times (though I'm O Pos...not quite as desirable as O Neg) and its always nice knowing you're putting back into the pool that you may one day need to take from.

Unfortunately I can't donate for a bit due to tattoos.

Not many people do persever as many hate needles, and couldnt agree more with you, i dont think many realise how the feeling is when you realise what you have done.

Imagine how the people feel who are sitting on a table with their families around them not sure if they are going to make it and then they find out that someone who they dont even know gave them an extended life.

This sounds like the best place to recruit donors then since we all willingly poke ourselves a couple times a week...hell I'll be poking myself 9 times a day here shortly and I know a few other member on the board are in the 9+ club as well.

    Good on ya!
I am unable to donate here in Australia as I lived in the uk between 86 and some year, during mad cow disease or something.
However this reminds me I really need to get a blood sample taken this year, I couldn't even tell you what my blood type is :/, been meaning to get it done for a while now

Oh yes I remember patting myself for being a good Samaritan and donating blood. Then 2 weeks later I noticed my skin was turning a nice shade of orange and I had no appetite and was tired all the time. Then about a week later I realized although I had been working out 5-6 days a week for several years 1-2hrs a day all of the sudden my biceps were the same size as my wrist and I had dropped from 165lbs down to 125 in a matter of day.

Hepatitis B is a real b*tch. I remember after the fact commenting to the person next to me also donating blood, isnt the attendant who is hooking up the IV supposed to change his gloves with each new patient?

Lesson learned, just because someone is trained and knows what they are supposed to do doesn't mean they will so it's up to you to make sure they do because it's you who will pay in the end.

I had to take 6mo off work to recover. I lost about 1yr worth of short term memory. It took me about 3 years to remember the glove thing.
My doctor said he had never seen anyone who had a white blood cell count like mine and live. He said he was not a fan of naturalpathic stuff but told me to keep doing whatever I was doing. I was taking goldenseal and a hand full of other vitamins and liver cleanse.

I never recovered 100% in feeling good. That was in 1990 and I never got back into lifting again. Every time I tried I would get really fatigued and end up getting sick. It was not until 2007 when I got on HRT that I finally had the energy to get back into the gym for more than a month.

Not trying to scare anyone just wanting people to be aware so they do not become to compliant with situations like this because there are risks.

I think it had been to many years between when it happened and when I remembered. I would also have to prove it although that is the only blood contact I had. It would help if I was able to prove other people also got Hep B the same day who used that facility but what do you want to bet those records would have been lost or sealed?

LOL no surgery needed. I'm sure once I get down to 10% it will be all good. Ive never had REAL gyno, only carried extra fat in the chest since a kid but not real bad.

Yeah I have to admit I have had more than my fare share of speed bumps. Some worse than others but I'm still not complaining and just taking it one day at a time.

I counted up my surgeries the other day and I think it was 13. A couple life threatening illnesses, a few years of emotional roller coaster due to drug addicted 1st wife ending in accidental suicide. 2nd ex wife committed suicide 2 year after divorce due to medical/mental issues but we were still pretty close. Countless other things along the long road but I'm hoping for smooth (OK smoother) sailing from here on out. Got to always look at the cup 1/2 full and there are always those who have it a LOT worse than you do.

It's all good mate, now that you've got yourself a philipina she's FAR more likely to kill you than anyone else....right after she chops off your banana.

Has she threatened you with that yet? My last Thai gf would always threaten me that way when I would joke about other girls....it was funny in a sort of frightening way.

If it makes you feel any better a doctor once punctured my lung while working on my back...then when I got home I was the lucky winner of a fully collapsed lung. Lost over 15pounds of LBM and around 40% of my strength while recovering. Oh, and 90% of my motivation too...

ha, no just the opposite which I would still be in just as much trouble. She has made the threat of not living without me. Ohhh yeah #3. The police would not even bother to question me, they would just throw away the key. I use to always joke saying they just cant live without me but it's turning out true more times than not.

Ouch, that doesnt sound like much fun either. Yeah before I had my 2nd back surgery due to ruptured disc L5/S1 I lost 90% feeling from the waist down and had nerve damage. My legs turned into skinny toothpicks and I had no calf's for the 1st time in my life. I could not walk from my bedroom to the living room without collapsing in pain for a good 45 minutes. Ohh so much fun. Luckily the surgery helped a LOT. Not 100% but close enough in comparison.

I still have a dislocated rib in my back that pops out of place all the time I have to slam my back up against a light pool or tree to get it back in place. lol I dislocated it during one of my famous ATV crashes and my Raptor 700 landed on my chest from about 15ft above me full front bumper impact knocking out the rib in back. I dint realize what it was for about 2 year. yeah I'm slow.

Isn't it fun comparing war stories? hahahaha

Wow lov thats some heavy shit! You got me thinking twice about going back now but being australian i believe we have one of the best health systems in the world, they dont take nothing to chance.

Cant say im surprised by your story cause this just sounds like a day to day for you lov, its prob just the icing on the cake for every other story you have in your life. Do you ever think lov you could be one of the most unluckiest people to fall on gods green earth? They way you have kept moving on with life, in a positive manner is inspirational none the less.

That's good. Not trying to scare you or anyone, only want you to be aware of your environment and what is going on around you so you dont make the same mistake i did and not speak up.

No I look at it just the opposite, I'm very lucky. Most people would have given up or be dead. I have had many things happen I should not have walked away from and have so I'm very lucky.

I can probably associate every bad experience with something positive that happened afterwards that I would have never experienced. I can think of tons of them but dont want to hijack your post anymore than I already have.

Uhhh...I think your war stories pretty much crush mine lol. I broke my face on a scooter when I was 12 the day before valentines day and then while in the hospital I was offered a sponge bath by a super fat nurse lady.....

Age 10 Good Friday before Easter I had a piece of metal go THROUGH my right eye taking out the lens on it's way through. No real pain, just felt like I got a piece of dirt in my eye. My dad was trying to break a chain using a hammer and chisels and it came off the hammer.

I spent 10 days in the hospital after 4+ hrs surgery to get at the piece of metal. They had to remove the eye ball and dig it out of the socket in the back. It almost went all the way through into the brain. See, lucky it didnt.

I remember getting a sponge bath buy rather thin older (early 20s) cute nurse and being quite embarrassed but yet now minding it to much.
Remember I was only 10 so 20s was pretty old to me. lol

When they collapsed my lung I had a HOT 22-23 year old nurse (like the kind you dream about) and I was only 19.....but no offer of a sponge bath. Bastard cockblock male nurse wouldn't leave my room to let me work my magic.

LOL just your luck and he was probably gay so he wasn't even interested in her or realizing what he was doing, cock blocking you. I can imagine what was going through your mind such as any healthy or even not so healthy 19yr old.
