You mean searched? They're there as a deterrent. Trust me if another attack happened like 9/11 and we didn't have high security at airports. There would be an uproar.

I'm guessing this is what you meant anyway!

Here's my idea with this.. The people that "attacked" us or whatever weren't us citizens .. That being said I'm not a threat.. Its ducking BS and a horrible waste of time and money..

What's to say your not a threat? They don't know that. A lot of US citizens are probably sympathetic to 'that' cause. And these groups aren't stupid. They know that we stereotype, so why not use the most unassuming type?

You seem like the type of person I deal with as a doorman. Walk right to the front of the queue, try and barge past me. When I stop you say "I'm the owners friend". You assume people should know who you are instinctively, even when you aren't that privileged.

The security are doing their job. The majority of people stopped are innocent, but you'll be grateful when they stop another attack.

/note, I have never been through US airports, but the security I can imagine isn't dissimilar to UK/

Right on que. well done. My point was, it doesn't matter who you are, anyone heading through that airport could potentially be a threat.

Like I said, I bet we all wished security had been tighter for the last events. Using airports now is accepting that you may or may not be subject to searching, or detainment. There is 3 main types of searching.

100%, used when you're expecting something. Search everyone.
Pattern, search every 10th, or 5th or whatever, it means no one can accuse you of profiling.
Random, just search randomly, big bags, funny clothing, suspicious behaviour, 3rd, then 8th then 15th.

Ive only had issues one time. It was at the airport in DC. Guy hated his life, and was quite angry.

I honestly can't say how effective the TSA is at preventing another terrorist hijacking. That being said, it's their rules their way. If you don't want to get searched and you don't want your time wasted, try another mode of transportation. Amtrak could definitely use the business.

Q911 attacks were by people that had been living in the states for years. So just by saying your american you should not be searched is bad thinking. Anyone can be a terrorist. I mean colimbine, virgina tech, colorado theater all terroristic acts and all by americans. So I'm glad taa does what they do if it saves one life its all worth it.

It is what it is. Sucks for everyone. Don't travel if it's that big an issue for you. And there have been a plethora of locals who caused trouble. Everyone bitches until the shit hits the fan, then it's "Oh they're not doing their job".

Some airports are better than others. The worse I've had is the US customs in Edmonton, AB. I don't know what power trip those guys are on, but they're extremely edgy!

say there are 50,000 TSA employees
and the average wage is $50,000 / year

that comes to $2,500,000,000 per year.

now these numbers are just estimates on my part. but do you think a federal employee costs less than $50k/year. Remember, gross wages is less than the total cost, as there are medical benefits, employer paid payroll taxes, etc.

    WW2
    Vietnam War

we don't even know the cost of the desert wars yet as annual costs are still going up

and now we are thinking about going to war again???

thats fvcken hilarious man!!!... of all the airports in the world, you pick my hometown and you are 5000% correct. Those idiots are the least efficient and have no idea how to run smothly. In HongKong they pushed through some 6 jumbo planes worth of passengers in less time than it takes our guys to process through a couple domestic flight size loads.

The two little old ladies at the airport in Smithers BC are pretty serious and take no flak from anyone. Especially a man,and everything is hand inspected no x-ray machine.

There is no incentive for them to do a great job. They are typically hated by most that have to go thru the process of getting on a plane . And standing around is a mild inconvenience compared to sitting in a car for hours upon hours

There wont be any more WW 1 veterans left in over a decade.

Anyways, how DARE Airport Security do their job. After all, neither us nor the Airport knows who Haterade is, MORE RESPECT PLEASE.

    This thread is a joke.

EDIT: Are you sure about those figures TR? Britain paid off its WW2 debt to America about 6 years ago now.

Well, if you spend so much time in airports, then you should be a pro that is used to it, not whinging like a baby at an inconvenience designed to keep you safe.

No* baby.* Yes* I* you're* you*

Now, that I'm done correcting your spelling and grammar mistakes, I didn't misspell or mistype whinging. I said what I meant. Maybe you should investigate the use of a dictionary. While you are at it, and have the dictionary in hand from looking up "whinging" you should probably look up the word "flame". If you were to actually pay attention to the definition of the word, you would see that I had not flamed you in even the slightest degree.
